Stability | A really good addition to your drum library! The sounds are very professional and realistic, recorded from name-brand drum sets used by pros in some of Southern California's most well-known studios.
In addition, the I-map arrangement makes for very intuitive playing. It makes it easy to add "human" elements of expression to your tracks (rolls, flams, etc.). With practice, you can lay down tracks that sound like a live drummer is present.
(Keep in mind that these are *acoustic* drum kits.....you won't find beat boxes, orchestra hits, or loops. And that's good! With all the 808 emulations and dance groove libraries, I'm glad someone's developed an affordable library of "real" drum sounds.)
These drum kits have more "character" than the standard fare found on modern workstations and drum machines. It's a great (and inexpensive) way to spice up your tracks. And despite the low price, I don't regard these sounds as inferior to those found in more expensive sample libraries. I bought Acoustic Drums as part of a 3-CD bundle from Esoundz including Symphony Strings And Piano Collection (see my reviews for these products), so that made it even more affordable.
The only weakness is that the individual drum sounds don't have their own routings, as would be the case on a drum machine or hardware workstation. If you want the various elements in your drumkit to have different effects or mix settings, you will have to use multiple channels and/or instances. (Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the PlugSound drum plugin has the same limitation). Luckily, though, the kits sound as if they've been mixed well with proper EQ and panning, so in many cases you can get by with just one channel. |
