Subatomic Software has announced that Audulus, the modular music processing app for Mac OS X, is now available for iPad. A new version of Audulus for Mac has also been submitted to Apple.

"The UI looks especially great on the Retina Display," says Developer W. Taylor Holliday. "Finally, a real modular on a mobile platform. You can patch anything and everything, anywhere."

Audulus for iPad can be used as a stand-alone instrument or in conjunction with Audulus for Mac. The iPad version isn't just a port of the Mac version – it adds multi-touch gestures, a new patch browser and a large on-screen music keyboard. The audio processing and graphics rendering have also been further optimized, benefiting both iPad and Mac versions.

"Best of all, Audulus for iPad enables a cross-platform workflow with the Mac version," says Holliday. "Users can, for example, begin a patch on iPad, load it with the Mac and Plug-in versions, and move it back to iPad for patching on the go. We've lowered the price of the Mac version for those users who what the round-trip workflow of having both platforms."

Audulus is a minimalist modular software synthesizer and effects processor. With Audulus, users can build synthesizers, design new sounds, or processing audio. All with low latency real-time processing suitable for live performance.

The Audulus user interface was inspired by analog guitar pedals: sounds are created or altered by connecting processing nodes. There are no hidden controls, no complex menus. The user begins with a blank canvas, rather than with daunting controls, and can build up to the desired level of sonic complexity.

Audulus for iPad key features:

  • Fluid Vector Interface – smooth animated interaction.
  • Diverse Nodes – from ADSR to ZeroCross.
  • MIDI Input – use your keyboard controller or control surface.
  • Patch Browser – quickly flip through your patches.
  • Multi-touch Keyboard.
  • 32-bit floating point signal processing.

Audulus is available on the App Store for an introductory price of $9.99. For more information, visit audulus.com.
