We need a new king of Hammond plugins!

I think it's high time we saw a new king of the Hammond emulation plugins! Reasons below:
- The current champion is GSi's VB3. However, it hasn't been updated in a while and there is no 64-bit version.
- NI B4II is discontinued (also trumped by VB3 and also no 64-bit version)
- The rest of the modeled plugins currently available kind of suck compared to VB3 (Linplug Organ3, ?)
- Only decent alternatives are sample based (NI Retro Organs, UVI Charlie) and that really isn't an option for dynamic drawbar manipulation playing.
How's the Model C in HALion 5? Ayone ready to step up to the plate?

i heard next version of VB3 was in development, and it should be 64-bit from the get go?
I don't know what to write here that won't be censored, as I can only speak in profanity.

Revival looks interesting...too bad I don't use Reason.
I contacted Guido several times about a/the new version of VB3 and 64-bit compatibility, but so far I haven't had a response...

Unfortunately you need a paid version of Reason or Reason Ess to be able to demo the rack extensions. Don't understand the policy of PropHead here, the rack extensions could convince possible buyers to invest in Reason:evilantal wrote:Revival looks interesting...too bad I don't use Reason.
Thor, the flagship synth in Reason, is showing it's age, sounding rather old and weak compared to the latest plugs now.The demo versions of Reason and Reason Essentials are fully functional and has all the content of the full version, the only limitation is that you can't open song files, export them to audio or use Rack Extensions.
A better chance of sale would be if people demoing Reason could also demo Synapse Antidote for example, or Revival for that matter.

Mach5 has organ oscillators but MOTU's Leslie emulation sounds shit. That's too bad because otherwise it would be very usable. Well then there's the LX-122 leslie by Xils-Lab but I can't justify the 69€ price.
VB3 sounds amazing but I hate the GUI and it's 32bit.
Wish Kurzweil would bring their modeled organs to VST world. Would be an instabuy.

Amplitube has a pretty decent Leslie. But the Leslie on Mainstage organ improved with Mainstage 3.

And the organ oscillator is just playing pure sines, it's not a tonewheel emulation at all. Zero points, there, MOTU. And yes, their Leslie is not that good sounding, either.Vertti wrote:Mach5 has organ oscillators but MOTU's Leslie emulation sounds shit.
Sound is more important than looks, and I've never had problems bridging VB3 in Reaper.Vertti wrote:VB3 sounds amazing but I hate the GUI and it's 32bit.
It won't happen, though.Vertti wrote:Wish Kurzweil would bring their modeled organs to VST world. Would be an instabuy.

There's also something called setBfree under active development (at http://setbfree.org). Don't get too juiced up, it's a stand-alone program for Linux and OSX, and it's developed at the usual speed of Open Source .. More of a generic tonewheel organ, I think it's really nice though and I'm keeping an eye on it. The usual suspects, tonewheels, two keybeds and foot pedals are there. There's a sound sample at the website if you're interested (it's from an old version of the software).

I upgraded to HALion5 from HAL4. I think I'll try out how the Model C simulation sounds through LX122 (demo version first)...

For Mac users there is the Logic VB3 which I prefer to all others anyway.

I'd love to be wrong but nothing beats a Hammond especially the newer ones. With sk2's xk3's and b3mk2's there are 96 tone generating processors. that's right 96 cores one for each tonewheel. They now have ten contacts. The keys being not weighted as they always were are pressure sensitive not velocity sensitive which brings out (yes sorry) an organic vibe that all emulators pale in comparison to.
