I laughed as Urs was talking about Tangerine Dream who used a synth called a "Prophet 5". Never heard of it!

Hehehe, the bliss of trying to work around, you know, naming things.

With SC going bust in '87, who picked up their copyrights and patents, was it Yamaha or Korg?

Can they still enforce copyright claims, or has it reverted back to DSI ?

Yamaha owned the Sequential brand for years, until recently, they gave the rights back to Dave Smith (hence, the "Sequential"-brand Prophet-6).

So Dave owns the name again, now...

As far as copyrights and IP goes, probably still officially belongs to Yamaha, unless they also gave the IP back to Dave as well, but he only mentioned they gave him back the name, so who knows..?

Nice one Urs! This Sonicstate video is great. Repro-5 really sounds incredibly good. The per-voice distortion section sounds f***ing awesome.

Urs seems genuinely excited and passionate about his new synth. I think the added saturation per voice is something I'm eager to try out.

I hope Urs is considering coming up with more vintage polyphonic synths in future. I'm thinking Oberheim OB-8, Elka Synthex and Moog Memorymoog.

What's so wrong with mentioning by name the synths that inspired a product? We're talking about a synth that first came out nearly 40 years ago and isn't being made today. Is it because the prophet name is being used again? Is it bad form?
