But, I made something small just now for fun with a lively springtime feeling. It's a deterministic pattern synthesizer that generates note sequences.

I tried to make it easy to program, so the note pitch and note-on (called gate in the device) values can be edited from three step devices.

First note-on values are created by modulating the gain of the Test Tone device. This is done to have some input for the Note Replacer device, that is triggered by sound volume.

Then there is a Steps device that modulates the note value for the replacer. The position in the steps device is directed by two LFOs.

There is also a note delay, that has it's transposition value modulated by another steps device. Remember (I did not realize this until some time) that the values in the echo settings are applied recursively to each delayed note. So if the echo gets an input of note value 60, there are three delays, and the transpose is set to 7, out will come note values 60, 67, 74 and 81, not 60, 67, 67, 67 which would feel logical but be boring. Since now the echo device can be used to move note patterns up and down quite freely.

By default the device runs in D dorian, the -1 mode shift in the transposer device is there just because it happens to sound better that way with the patterns I've set up. So actually I think it's now C# dorian, I'm not exactly sure at which point the mode shift is applied.

Probably the device might be hard to read, ask if there's any questions, or if it seems too complicated to some who would like to understand it, I might do a write up on the blog.
