Kong Audio presents a new addition to the Chinee Series family with ChinePipa VSTi. Like all other Chinee Series plugins, ChineePipa is made from a deep understanding of the instrument that sets it apart from the usual "collection of the world" type of ethnic sound libraries.
The Never-Stopping Chattering
Pipa (Chinese Lute) has its origin dated back to the Qin Dynasty (221-206BC). As Pipa evolved, it was heavily influenced by Persian culture during the Tang Dynasty (618 - 907 AD) when the two great civilizations crossed over with each other, and became one of the most popular instruments in China ever since then.
As Pipa prospered in the most powerful Chinese dynasty, it left tremendous markings in the Chinese literature and culture. Pipa is most well-known for its rapid, successive playing style. A famous quote from a Chinese poem has it nailed: "[sounds like] the pearls, large and small, on a jade plate fall".
Extraordinary Playability
ChineePipa contains various types of legato, tremolo, trills, rolls, slaps, and staccato, as well as special techniques, phrases and articulations. The note range is from A3 to D7 (for most patches).
With the extensive sampling and Modwheel triggered expressions, musicians can play ChineePipa lively and expressively either for live performace or scoring purpose.
Audio Demo:
Story 1 - by Jinghong Jiang score for a Chinese TV programme
Story 2 - by Jinghong Jiang score for a Chinese TV programme
Hometown by Greg Schlaepfer

Chinee Pipa has received MusicTech (UK)'s Recommended Award in the 06/11 issue.

The piano is the free Natural Studio grand piano, which fortunately is still available for download from the Natural Studio website: http://www.naturalstudio.co.uk/ns_piano.html
The orchestra is entirely Miroslav Philharmonik.
Also featured in this demo is the DiZi from ChineeWinds.
By the way, the sequencing for the Pipa is using only one instance of ChineePipa, and no preset-switching.

...just downloaded and played with ChinePipa after winning a copy in the KVR song contest.
I must say this plugin sounds absolutely amazing. So expressive and clear sounding.
I can't wait to use this in future projects. Thank You.
