I've got a load of .aif and .aiff loop files here.

It would be great to be able to slice them in LiveSlice.

Anyone-else?

I have to support aif files anyways in the osx version, since it is the standard format for uncompressed audio on osx - so I might as well implement that in the windows version too.
Already found the technical info to implement standard .aiff import, but after Apple moved to intel there have been changes to make the format more intel-friendly.
I also read about some aif file extension containing loop and slice info (Apple Loops).
Fortunately it also seems apple have released an SDK (for Windows!) that can deal with different flavors of Aif files. Would Microsoft release an osx version of a Windows Media SDK? Not very likely...

would it be ok if you had to have quicktime installed to import aiff? I could implement standard aif import natively but it'll be much simpler for me to just use quicktime.

:-) good thing I just compiled another library that will handle .aif files then. It works with the files you sent me, and handles some more exotic formats too (like .au and .snd).

It's definitely a good thing. Quicktime is no-go over here too.

your welcome. I was hoping it would work with quicktimealternative, but it didn't seem too stable. Quicktimealternative is great if you need to watch .mov without apple invading your computer though.
I looked into mp3 / ogg import but then I realized: people would start importing whole songs, and when they decompress to 32bit PCM they take quite a bit of memory, and take a loooong time to analyze. I'd much rather spend the time working on other improvements too...
