of course (and just to muddy the waters a little) ...

... if youre working with drones you could always make your sound and use seamless looper to find loop points for it then just use your audio editor to timestretch the whole thing to fit your intended BPM and number of bars ...

(since even using something like recycle / beatcreator will still need you to find decent loop points if you want a continuous drone with no 'jerky bits' in it)

Actually, I had tried having SL create the loop and then I saved the entire file. I opened this file in Sound Forge and removed the data in front of and after the loop points, and the bpm for the file did not change -- and the loop sounded great. It played fine in Acid.

I've not done time stretching of loops in SF. It does this without changing pitch?

i dont know soundforge (i use audition for my audio editor) but i would GUESS that it uses pretty much the same timestretching (without altering pitch) algorhythm that acid does and so ought to give pretty decent results ???

I would think so given that it's a professional level editor (which I am not).

I think it would still be on target here to ask how you go about timestretching. In Acid I can obviously move oneshots and loops back and forth in relation to each other on different tracks. Without rhythymic beats, is there a role for timestretching? I'm experimenting (learning) to create ambient music, with a minimalism emphasis.
