Mellohispanaut: El Pueblo Blanco
http://homepage.hamburg.de/famous_hares ... Blanco.mp3
El Pueblo Blanco
Vivimos en el pueblo blanco
entre la monaña y el mar
Cientos borrachos estan cantando
The White Village
We're living in the white village
between the mountains and the sea
Hundreds of drunk men are singing
their song of feeling fine
The smell of life
doesn't mix
with the dark/heavy sound of the sea
And the shade of the moon
is the mirror
of your loneliness
The fishermen of life
swimming in a pool
They search for the soul of the lost night
The teachers of lies
dancing in the streets
They wave the branches of pain in your heart
The women and their sons
shout behind their walls
abandonned by their men
for a bottle of rum
The Location:
www.aytoagaete.es/
Made with: Reason 3.04, Sonar 2.2, guitar, some kjaerhuys plugs, Sir, George Yohng limiter, Recycle 2.1
Enjoy!

Hi
Although I live in Edinburgh, Scotland now, my home town is Coventry, England. When I was growing up there in the sixties and seventies, Coventry was the car making capital of England. The back wall of my first house was the wall of the Jaguar engine plant. Now that wall backs onto a housing estate; every car factory site is now a supermarket or the home of one-size-fits-all housing.
This track is a fond farewell to a town's proud manufacturing history and the passing of a culture.
Enjoy.

Well, this is my first month with a microphone. So now I get to learn all about recording audio!
I live in Northern Virginia, just outside Washington, D.C. The memory of America's Civil War surrounds us here. Union troops trained in what is now Arlington County, Virginia, just this side of the Potomac River. Before the war, the Confederate general Robert E. Lee lived in Arlington House, just across the river from the Lincoln Memorial. The property was confiscated by the Union and turned into Arlington National Cemetery. My neighborhood - 10 miles west of the river - was never under control of either side. It was just in a constant state of skirmish. (My next door neighbor says he used to find empty Civil War shells in the woods behind the park a few blocks away). 15 miles to my west, stands the Manassas battlefield - site of two major Civil War battles. (If you're not from the American South, then you probably know it as "Bull Run" - which is the creek next to the battlefield).
Anyway, I tried to capture the sense of what it's like to live on top of land where so much blood was shed.....
Bloodied Ground
Stuff Used:
My voice, sung with a cold and no processing
FL Keys run through Cyan (Reaktor Electronic Instruments, Vol. 2)
Absynth 3
Excelsior Accordion - real accordion, not a sample, played in real time
FLStudio 6 for the MIDI
Acid 6 for the Audio
Adobe Audition 1.5
Sony SoundForge 8
Lyrics:
BLOODIED GROUND
The sky today was a blue and gray
As we rode to work or ran to play
For near the river in the rain
Starts the bloodied ground
Armies crossed this land as if a swarm
In the humid summer, thick and warm
Blue and gray, they fought and brought a war
To this bloodied ground
And my home stands on no man's land today
Parks and forest gardens hide the fray
For beneath the asphalt, shells and soldiers lay
Not the highways or the cherry trees
Or the monuments can ever free
Virginia's vivid memory
Of its bloodied ground
And the Lee house stands on cemetery land today
Marbled columns, flames eternal mask decay
For beneath the ground a century's soldiers lay
Oh, I forgot the pictures...
The Lee House
The Lee House at the top of the Hill at Arlington Cemetery

First warning : I sing in Spanish on this one and I have no cold nor sinus problems; I just sound crap, that's all...
My first 35 years I've spent in Belgium... The last 19 in Canarias and this is real fun !
In fact it is Europe, but is next to Africa and life is like in latin America...
Most music you hear on fiestas here, is salsa, so for the first time in my life I jumped into the "sauce".
To please my local friends I made some lyrics in Spanish (I hope they'll die of laughter !
)
The Tanga Girls did the backing and Mello's midgets came over to play some trumpet and other funny things (they don't like boleros).
As always : recorded with Logic, George Yohng's Limiter, Classic Reverb and Delay, GlaceVerb, mda Detune, Clas and a few instruments.
Until one of the generous people help me with a direct link, here's a link to my thingie at The Auditorium :

I live in whitstable. A town in the south east of kent famous for one thing, Oysters. To make matters worse i work at the town's most famous fish resteraunt which is situated on the harbour queyside directly above the fish market.
Everyday i get home and i stink of fish, now i will admit that the quality of food is beautiful and a lot of the chippies in the town are very high standard, but all these combined and the fact that every morning to afternoon one of the units in the harbour de-shells on average 45 tonnes of shellfish and leaves the remains to be collected a few hours later, the entire town reeks of fish.

So this is what i have written my entry about. My smelly town.
A Fishy description of my home town.
edit, shitwank; it isnt linking directly. would someone be kind enough to give me somewhere i can upload it with none of this waiting sillyness.

This is a first attempt at this type of thing. My disadvantage is being in the dark age of dial-up, so I don't really get the opportunity of listening to other contributions enough.
I live in the wonderful north-east of england with all it's traditions of music and try to interpret some of these ideas in this two minute snapshot (compressed to hell for a dial-up upload), so please forgive the quality.
All my own work,
the tools are:
"Jedson" acoustic guitar, miked thru Behringer XM1800s,
"Maya" strat electric, D.I.'d,
"Westfield" precision bass, D.I.'d,
"Generation" D key penny whistle, miked thru Behringer XM1800s,
all through Behringer Eurorack UB1002 mixer,
recorded into Kristal Audio Engine and treated with KristalReverb.

Australia's a beautiful place with, like most nations, a fairly brutal past. So I'm going with the oblique historical approach.

Short of time this month, so the recording's a bit quick and rough.

This is a lament to Fortress Washington, D.C....

Undisclosed Location
Featuring GPO (piano), SampleTank (B-3 Organ, electric piano, bass), AmpliTube (on two guitar parts and the ST bass), Soundtrack (drum loops), and some punk's voice.
Lyrics:
There's a Jersey barrier blocking my vantage point
But I guess that's just the way it has to be
Used to be so open and so beautiful
But I doubt that this new look is temporary
I'm in an
Undisclosed location
For the security of the nation
Or is it just for my security?
Here in my
Undisclosed location
I can stew in indignation
While I'm protected from changing anything about me
You once could see straight down into the monuments
I'd stand watching the sun set and I'd think
Now the view's reserved for Senators and Congressmen
Why don't I care enough to make a stink?
I'm in an
Undisclosed location
For the security of the nation
Or is it just for my own security?
Here in my
Undisclosed location
I can use my imagination
To try to figure out why everyone's afraid of me
You open the Post and read the new measures
To keep the bad guys away
You sip your coffee, one of the few pleasures
Left to you in this cage you have made
I'm in an
Undisclosed location
For the security of the nation
Or is it just for my own security?
Here in my
Undisclosed location
I can stew in indignation
While I'm protected from changing anything about me
I'm too damn scared to change anything about me

Down here in Australia, a couple of weeks ago our politicians made public statements that all migrants, before they can become Australian citizens, should be able to demonstrate that they have embraced "Australian Values". This has generated much debate - a lot of which has been about just what "Australian values" actually are.
Inspired by the sight of our Prime Minister at Crocodile Hunter, Steve Irwin's memorial service last week (at which John Williamson performed), this is a tongue-in-cheek attempt to define "Australian values" in the musical style of John Williamson.
I offer you:
Australia - we're fair dinkum
http://www.slartimusic.com/music/06_09_ ... tralia.mp3
Lyrics:
Australia, Australia - it's full of kangaroos
If you want to be Australian, you've got to be true blue
If you come down to Australia, you'd better learn the lingo
Don't leave your baby in a tent, it'll be eaten by a dingo
If you're thinking of swimming in Queensland, don't be such a dill
If the crocodiles don't get you, the bloody stingrays will. Crikey!
How're you going, mate? How's it hanging? No worries, mate. She'll be right.
Put some VB in the esky. Chuck a U-ie in the ute.
We're heading for the beach. Coz the weather's really beaut.
We'll go and perv on sheilas. Yeah, mate, that's truly wicked.
Our second favourite pastime (*) is thrashing the Poms at cricket.
C'mon down to Bluey's place, he's putting on a party.
We'll have ourselves a skinful, throw some snags on the barbie.
We'll put on the wobbly boots, and then we'll have a chunder.
Everybody knows that's what we do down under.
Australia, Australia - it's full of kangaroos
If you want to be Australian, you've got to be true blue
(* - everybody knows that Australians' favourite pastime is drinking beer)
A glossary of terms for those that don't understand the finer points of Australian English ("Strine")
fair dinkum - genuine, serious
true blue - patriotic
lingo - language
dill - idiot
VB - Victoria Bitter, Australia's largest selling beer
esky - cooler, ice chest
chuck a u-ie - do a U-turn
ute - utility vehicle, pickup truck
beaut - beautiful
perv on - ogle, leer at
sheila - girl, woman
Pom - English person
Bluey - a common nickname, in usual droll Australian style, for a red-haired person
have a skinful - get drunk
Put on the wobbly boots - get very drunk
chunder - vomit

It's a first-ever collaboration this month between myself and Rockstar_not. We call ourselves: Dr. RockapostrophestarnotX! And our tune this month is about Michigan, the Land Shaped Like a Hand. We're celebrating not only our state's unique geographical feature (that it's shaped like a hand), but also our state's rich 20th-century musical heritage and we're doing it with a gritty, post-auto-industrial homage to Motown.
Michigan: The Land Shaped Like A Hand
And here's the lyric:
You've got to understand: I come from a land shaped like a hand.
To find out where we live,
It's really quite easy my man.
Every person who hears this song,
Carries a map in their right and left hands.
Derrick May back to Marvin Gaye
Stevie Wonder to Electronic Thunder.
P-Funkadelica to electronica.
Aretha Franklin to Juan Atkins.
Michigan,
It comes from Michigan.
Yeah, Michigan,
It comes from Michigan.
From the land that's shaped that's shaped like a hand.
From the land that's shaped that's shaped like a hand.
From the land that's shaped that's shaped like a hand.
From the land that's shaped that's shaped like a hand.
(All right now! Let's get on the bus! We're taking it down to Wixom!)
Brothers, sisters, mothers and fathers
Shape the iron into daily drivers.
Quincy Jones with the 454,
Berry Gordy Junior's got 4 on the floor.
You've got to understand that I come from a land shaped like a hand.

It's that time of the year...Scandianvia is turning red and yellow, and we're heading towards colder, darker days. This track is both a celebration of the seasonal change, and a musical inspiration to keep the mood up when the days get darker.

This is a song about my home. My home is very far away from here. My home is on another planet. One with lots of metallic shiny things and methane and burning stuff. But it is where I live. Maybe not as nice as where you live, but still it is home.
Here is a picture of my front yard. You can just see one of my friends coming up the path. Travel is difficult, the gravity is heavy, and I don't get out much.

I've definitely been away from KVR, almost a year. But I'm back now and I have ... plans. Stay tuned.
