How to make a preset bank?

Sorry for the nooby question, but I'm wanting to get into preset-making, and I'm not sure how to make a bank for any synth. I want to make some cool banks for my favorite freebies, and I know how to make just plain presets. How am I supposed to make a bank and give my presets names and such?
In short, can you give me the absolute idiot's guide to patch/preset bank making?
FYI, I use FL Studio 6 if that means anything.

Hmmm, that's great, but it (from what I skimmed through and saw) doesn't tell me how to make a bank of presets.
So say I've got several presets (.fxp's) that I've made, but I want to put them all into a bank (.fxb). How do I do that?

With many synths, you can just load fxp's into each slot in a bank, then save the bank. However, this is time consuming...
Tobybear's minihost (donationware) has a function that can combine your choice of fxp's into an fxb. It's by far the easiest way i've found.
The specifics of naming presets will be different for every synth, so you'll have to specify what you're using.

Hmmm. Well, I tried Minihost, but I get this message:
A device ID has been used that is out of range for your system.
I also get some other error messages telling me something about memory violation or something.
Hmm, maybe I'll just try to figure it out with FL....

So which synth plugin were you trying?Topiness wrote:The specifics of naming presets will be different for every synth, so you'll have to specify what you're using.
We are the KVR collective. Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated.

That's strange, MiniHost has been stable for a long time. I installed it a few times on different machines without problems. There is a Tobybear forum here on KVR, you could get some help there.DJ Flexstyle wrote:Hmmm. Well, I tried Minihost, but I get this message:

I would insist a bit more on MiniHost - although a long time FL user (since version 1.5 - a "drum machine" back then) I always use MiniHost for patch programming and organizing. It's preset manager allows you to do *exactly* what you want.

Look in your FLstudio help file....type in "preset" to the search field, and see what comes up.
I'm sure they tell you how to rename a preset within FLStudio.
Peace

In FLStudio there is a button in the top left window in the VST you are using, click it, and from the menu select one of the options at the bottom, there is one that is called export cubase bank, export cubase preset... you can go one by one saving them individually and after you have finished your bank, you can load them one at a time (import cubase preset)in different slots and save the complete bank with export cubase bank.
