Can I use my PodXT as a preamp for a mic?

I don't have an audio interface yet, but I need to get a mic. I was trying to device whether to get a USB powered one or a phantom one.

Since phantoms mics are cheaper and will be more useful in future when i do get a AI, and I have a PodXT. Can I use them together?

I use the PODxt as a mic preamp all the time, and it works well for that, but it doesn't provide phantom power, afaik. There's only an unbalanced jack input, so I doubt that. If your mic needs phantom power, you're stuck, I guess.
My condenser mic has a battery, so I'm covered...
