Tutorials for us novices

Urs,Looking to see if you might be kind to us novices and create tutorials much like computer music does in their computer mag. I am learning by trial and error slowly on zebra, am not having fun. I understand basic synthesis but am having challenges and need help understanding some of what goes on in Zebra. Those simple tutorials work wonders and I hope you could make a few for the site. I am sorry I am such a lay person and don't know code or even advanced synthesis. I just want to move ahead fast with Zebra. Much respect.

Although I am having no problem creating basic pads, leads, etc... from scratch, I have noticed when going through various other presets things like step sequencers with blinky green lights and other things like that. Not sure how those got in there and still haven't found the module that creates it. Maybe the guys at Macprovideo could do a video on Zebra2? I've found they're very good at simplifying the most complex of processes.

For sequencing type rhythmic effects, you can do lots of things.
You can use the MSEG's, you can use LFO's (including a user mode where you can define your own patterns or steps), you can loop the envelopes, you can use the arpeggiator and the arpmod sources, and you can also delay envelopes for rhythmic effects too.

Actually, there have been various ideas & plans for tutorials, but it's pretty hard to keep up with these things. Gonna call Hans/Wonshu and Howard to see what they think and what has happened...
Btw. even though I'm the developer, I'm absolutely not the one who knows most about Zebra, let alone "how to do this or that sound". Dudes like Tasmaniandevil or Howard Scarr meanwhile know way more than I do myself...

Urs,
I have an idea: how about opening up a wiki on the zebra site (perhaps tied into the official manual) where the gurus around here can go more in-depth on the potential uses of each module? Perhaps that, coupled with a few "beginner" style tutorials, would go a long way to realizing avantrs4's goal. Just a thought.

Actually, that's why the manual is blog-style! It opens up the possibility to add more authors for exactly such things... will talk to Hans to see what he thinks about how to handle these things...tboulette wrote:Urs,

Right, and I'd been kind of wondering what that hadn't happened yet.... I guess you'd have to worry about some dumb slob hijacking the wiki. Any way to limit access (at least to editing) to registered users?
