I have a new DAW imminent

E6850 or Q6600 - your advice on CPU would be appreciated.

EDIT:In short if you have a host that can use all 4 cores go for the quad.What host do you use?

Every decent host can use a quad-core or even a dual-quad machine. And in the next year comes the octal-core. So if you're host doesn't have or will not have soon proper multithreaded engine, ditch it.

Thanks - Tracktion 3 is my current host of choice, but I haven't yet checked how it handles multiple cores.
