Anyone here who got Omnisphere?

Perhaps I'm taking things to literally, but I understood that Atmosphere's patches would be included in Omnisphere. I can't find any of them - nor do I see thousands of patches - perhaps two hundred max - for example:
Category all, genre all, complexity all, author all - i have only 19 patches starting with the letter 'A' - doesn't bode well for thousands of presents really..
I have Atmosphere, so I was really looking forward to hearing the strings reproduced in Omnisphere, but no luck.
Anyone else having this issue, or can advise?
Thanks
Antony

Unfortunately no luck - I've already installed the 1.0.1 update for both the sound source and the patch library - no change.

Myself and another user counted 950+ patches in the current version. They are adding more. In addition there are many multis on top of that.afewster wrote:Perhaps I'm taking things to literally, but I understood that Atmosphere's patches would be included in Omnisphere. Right now the part of the library that has "thousands" is the sound source library. I believe the most current figure quoted was circa. 2700 sound sources.
If you open the sound source browser, rather than the patch browser, you can find a large collection of the sounds from Atmosphere by typing in "atmosphere" in the search box. This has been mentioned once or twice in the Omnisphere threads so far, but the patches aren't ready yet.

All the Atmosphere soundsources are already included.afewster wrote:Perhaps I'm taking things to literally, but I understood that Atmosphere's patches would be included in Omnisphere.
We're putting the finishing touches on the Atmosphere patch library right now. Should be available for download early next week.

here are a couple sounds I made with only two DSP oscillators. The organ one is just two sine waves using the harmonia generator for the other partials. The rotary speaker is done with LFOs, no Leslie effect included.pdxindy wrote:soundpalace wrote: Would really love to hear some sound demos of the synth engine with no samples.
me too... that would tell much about the synth itself...

I read most of the posts here and my question is: Is Omnisphere really the "Super synth of all times" like is was hyped or is it just another rompler with some nice new samples. I mostly read about problems, missing features/patches or updates here. Also the amount of patches is nothing special for todays standards. Actual hardware synths have 1000+ patches not to speak about the Virus TI which can keep up to 3328 (26 x 128) patches with the new OS update. If you have space for gigantic 40 GB of sample content why not have at least 2000-3000 patches ????
My actual result is that i better stay with Sylenth1, Absynth 4, Massive, Rapture and Surge or have a look at Camel Audio Alchemy. Maybe Omnisphere is finished in some weeks or months. Then it's maybe worth to look again....
P.S. : It'S really a shame that no demos, either audio or a "REAL" demo are available. The synth engine with some samples and patches would be enough as a demo for me.

I don't think anyone has ever claimed it to be a "Super synth of all times", at least not Spectrasonics. It is what it is, and at least I think it's going to be a very useful synth with some great sounds. And from what I have heard, seen, and read, it's not a rompler, but rather a synth with a huge sample library.Ingonator wrote:I read most of the posts here and my question is: Is Omnisphere really the "Super synth of all times" like is was hyped or is it just another rompler with some nice new samples.
That's because whiners are always the loudest (and that applies to all net forums I have visited or moderated). There might already be thousands of happy Omni users, but maybe most of them are happily making music with it. Or maybe they have never even visited KVR. And if you read the Omnisphere threads here, you'll find plenty of positive comments too. Also, many (including me) haven't even received the instrument yet! (Damn UPS, hurry!)Ingonator wrote: I only read about problems, missing features or updates here.
More patches are on the way (one update has already been released, another one will be soon). If 1000 patches is some kind of magical threshold for you, I guess we'll soon be on the better side.Ingonator wrote: Also the amount of patches is nothing special for todays standards. Also, a thing that many people might not remember: if you are dealing with anything else than a very simple rompler, you can actually make your own sounds. Yes, you are not limited to presets! I know the art of shaping your own sounds from the raw waveforms and samples is not familiar to many of today's musicians, but the old art lives on among the chosen ones![/sarcasm]
By all means - you are free to use or not to use whatever you wish. Another thing I don't understand is why everyone needs to decide this very moment if Omni is a good synth for them, or not. It's going to be around for years, there will be lots of audio demos in the future, and so on. If you don't have enough data to make an informed decision right now, just take it easy, continue making music, and come back later. Effectively, I've only been using Omnisphere for a few hours, and already I've produced two broadcast-quality tracks. But I won't be releasing them as "demos" in the public domain... they're actually too good!
As for official demos, it's been said that Spectrasonics wanted to devote their energies to getting the thing out there and working, but demo tracks will become available. Seems sensible to me because so far Omnisphere is running very smoothly here.
Is it the greatest, super-dooper, mega synth ever? I don't know. Yet. But from playing around with a few patches, it's certainly the best textural/ambient/pad synth I've ever played. Ever. And I haven't even rolled my sleeves up yet.

So it took Access about 7 years to create that library of patches.Ingonator wrote:Also the amount of patches is nothing special for todays standards. Actual hardware synths have 1000+ patches not to speak about the Virus TI which can keep up to 3328 (26 x 128) patches with the new OS update.
Omnisphere has over 4000 sounds already....and it's only been out for 7 days.
In a few days, we'll be adding over 1000 more patches. If you have space for gigantic 40 GB of sample content why not have at least 2000-3000 patches ????
Finished?Maybe Omnisphere is finished in some weeks or months.
It'll never be finished, exactly. Because the whole idea of this instrument is that it will be evolving and growing like crazy for many years.
The reason that our good friends at Access made such a classic in the Virus is that they stuck with it and kept improving it for many years.
You'll be seeing the same approach in our dedication with Omnisphere too.

Thank you very much for your detailed answer. I guess i'll wait for some time until it's really finished (technically, not the patches) and give it a try then.Captain wrote:I don't think anyone has ever claimed it to be a "Super synth of all times", at least not Spectrasonics. Quality, usefulness, etc means a lot more. In most synths or plugins I have used, I usually end up using a small percentage of the patches anyway.

Which actually makes sense, since Omnisphere is an upgrade to Atmosphere! (A point that some here seem to forget . . . !)Hitchcock Bell wrote:But from playing around with a few patches, it's certainly the best textural/ambient/pad synth I've ever played. Ever.
