Klaus - is this equivalent to Ethnotronics Pro XL that stopped being on sale in your store?

Hi Caleb,

we changed the ET product line concept a bit.

The Ethnotronics Pro II VST is the new center piece and although the huge content (2.8 GBs, over 1000 Presets) already covers many instruments you can get additional special expansions if you have a specific demand for an individual ethnic instrument. In case of ET Pro II you can expect several special expansions each is focussing one instrument or instrument type very closely. They are currently in the work.

All the new ws5-engine VSTs are available as Library-only versions though, this is good for all those you already own the latest Wusikstation version.

Like our other new ws5-engine VSTs (for example UX3) this is the "master" instrument and you can think of it like a huge center folder plus individual subfolders. This helps you to build your perfect content library around one sampleplayer, your ws5-engine VST.

Example:

UX3 VST
- Movie Orchestrals
- SciFi Machine

Evalon II VST
- Minimoog Classics
- Vintage String Ensembles

Ethnotronics Pro II VST
- tba
- tba
- tba

You can pick exactly those packages you want for your perfect workstation system, so you don't pay for anything you don't need, compared to that situation when buying big 20 GB or even fatter VSTs they are called total solution or telling you that there is an ominous instrument content inside with everything for everybody.

As you notice that we came up with really a lot of new products all based on the ws5-engine just through the last weeks you can expect several expansions for ET Pro II in the very near future. This is possible thanks to a new and improved sample and Presets development system we have at bitr now. So everything new we are announcing is always available right away. We installed also our own sample download system server for highspeed downloads up to 1 MB or even faster (depends also on your internet connection though), so you can download even GBs very quickly.

Hey Klaus,

Sorry it took so long for me to reply.
That sounds like a great idea re: Ethnotronics and it's fit with what you've done in the past too - so good call.

I'm a bit out of pocket because it's the end of the year again, but I think I'll scoop up Ethnotronics in the new year. It's one sound area I would like to expand a bit more.

Thanks for the clarification.

Hi Caleb,

you are always welcome.

during the last few weeks we released new expansions for Evalon II and UX3, it's listed in the other thread that Julia posted, and everything is going rather quickly now. I think everyone get's a good picture how the product concept works.

The same happens with the Ethnotronics Pro II expansions. Is there a special instrument or instrument group what you are looking for besides the Ethnotronics Pro II content?

It's more a concept thing I guess. I was going to go for the Ethnotronics Pro XL product originally because at the time it seemed like the other available sets were using Wusikstation's engine creatively rather than providing a very solid ethnic library. Ie - the other sets leaned towards creative use of the library rather than faithful playback.

It's not that I wouldn't want the creative use of ethnic content in an engine as amazing as WS5 - far from it, just that I put more priority on getting a decent ethnic library for playback - also in WS of course. ;)

So I just wasn't sure how this product compared in direction with the original ideas of the product line. Does that make sense?

Yes, Caleb, it makes sense.

Indeed the early ET concept was done in WS2 version times. WS2 was a fine sample-based synthesizer, so the ET concept followed this idea using ethnic instruments creatively. The more sampleplayer related concept was planned with the HALion player version.

Since the WS4 and even more since WS5 the ws-engine can simply do both and even more with the integrated WGB. That's why we followed the ws-engine once again and improved the concept as described above as it helps to keep the overview when working with it during the music production. The ws-engine library market is rather overcrowded now, this is good and musicians can get a lot of different samples now ready-to-use in this format. (The VST market is overcrowded anyway!) Our contribution to this situation is a clearly splitted library system into several categories. This is even more important as alone our products come with a really huge Presets content, and we even haven't started to make crossover Presets by combining samples from let's say Ethnotronics Pro II, vox'd Pro and Evalon II in one Presets bank, for example a Buzouki layered with a choir and a Solina strings. This scenario is still reflecting the sampleplayer mode. As the ws5 is an advanced synth with powerful filter and mod section the creative use of those samples is possible too.
