well, that more then I can do right now. I don't remember a damn thing about Blender. The notes I did take make no sense. I don't have MAX/MSP so I don't know how its done. I can ask around perhaps someone could explain it to me. |

I've made something similar to the RAT before but this is a modified version of that. You need to finetune it by yourself though http://stashbox.org/412786/Rat.knob |

see the first example of the knobman example thread, make that a square and you should be all set. |

I gave this a shot using, like you say, using the Radio Shack switch as a starting point. The resulting switch looks ok in the ON position, but doesn't look right in the OFF position. The challenge is depicting curvature of the switch. Rectangular Switch I'm not satisfied with it. I think it comes down to the shading OFF position. In the OFF position the switch no longer looks concave; in fact, it looks just the opposite. I'm not sure how to get it exactly right. Maybe the top part of the switch in the OFF position needs to be highlighted instead of remaining dark. |

Rect Switch 2nd Version This may be the best I can do. I played with the inner shadow in the OFF position so that it would cast a slight shadow over the top. I lightened up the layer underneath the switch, so that in the OFF position, it represents the light hitting the top part of the switch. I messed with the specular shading, too. |

Can't leave well enough alone...
Rect Switch 3rd Version I used a seperate layer for the shadow. I turned it at angles to enhance the pivot effect of the switch. Don't know if I'm making any improvements at this point, so I'll let y'all decide. |
