Here's the final mix (well, not final apart from mastering) of a short tune I made. It features CoreBass Cherry, CoreGuitar Strawberry, and Addictive Drums.
Listen to the example here: http://www.orangetreesamples.com/audio/ ... assMix.mp3
And finally here are screenshots of all the effects on CoreBass Cherry: (in order of the signal chain)
Most notable is the use of reverb on the bass. Since the drums and guitar have a fair amount of reverb, it's important to add some to the bass so it mixes in well rather than being extremely dry sounding by comparison.
Anyway, feel free to comment, or share your own mixes!

Here's another song example demonstrating CoreBass Cherry Slapped in the mix. The audio demo also features CoreGuitar Strawberry.

In the EQ, notice the peak in the 40-70hz range, which gives the bass that defined low end. With all the CoreBass libraries, the noise profile is so low that you can boost the high frequencies without having to worry about hiss.
Slap bass is an especially appropriate style of bass playing to use heavy compression on, especially when reverb is involved.

Thanks for posting this, Greg. I really need to learn more about mixing and not just for guitar and bass, but overall, so this is a real help to me, and I am certain for others too.
I also must admit that I am really digging the tune: http://www.orangetreesamples.com/audio/ ... lapMix.mp3.
It still blows me away that samples of guitar and bass can sound this realistic. I mean, I've been simulating electric guitar and bass on keys since the 80s (with my Roland U-20 and other synths). It's amazing how far things have come.

Thanks for this! Not often that I print out from KVR, but this is worth the ink! Thanks for sharing your knowledge in this way. It's much appreciated!

For the sake of organization, I thought I would repost information from a different thread here:
