AFAIK TouchSmart kills a lot of tablet functions adding multitouch because you can't rest your palm on the screen to write or draw. I've got an older passive stylus Fujitsu 3500 tablet and let me tell you that it sucks to have the cursor jump all the way across the screen because you brushed it with your palm and your finger is not really a good tool for detailed computer work.TristezaOrange wrote:When Win 7 comes out, I'm definitely getting a nice multitouch screen! My newer 4010 uses the Wacom magnetic stylus system and it's a joy for writing and drawing. You can't use your finger on the screen but it's awesome for technical work.
I like touchscreens a lot. There is a $100 passive touchscreen kit for my Asus 1000HE netbook and I've put it off about as long as I can stand it.
In case anyone wants to convert their desktop monitor and on the cheap. There are some monitor touchscreens for about the same price. Wide screens are a little more.

I'd like to think the cost of these types of things will come down dramatically over the next few years, as more manufacturers enter the market, demand picks up, and economies of scale kicks in.

Well, I returned my TX2. Didn't really impress me at all. The multi touch seemed almost useless and the hardware quality sucked. It even missed the Wacom-digitizer. Instead I got an old TC4400 that isn't multi touch but it is cheap as dirt on ebay.
Strange that I only now started to play with Usine. Perfect for touch screens and a must for multi touch screens
