broken, in 9 pieces.
the above is a mono mp3, for donations of £3.50 (or more) with the word "broken" you will receive a link to a folder containing the full stereo mixdown and a password.
thanks for all your support.

"if i need to explain, then you wouldnt understand" best describes my feelings on this.
for those who do undertand, i pity you.

for anyone who thinks its a little self indulgent, i agree.

all instruments played by my own hand, or other body parts (depending on the instrument).

best served low, in the dark.

I whole heartedly agree. I really enjoyed your self-indulgence. Thanks for sharing. ;)

Hadn't seen any posts from you lately and thought maybe you and the missus were on an extended cruise or something.

how bizzarre.
my wife has just been on a cruise (with her parents and my son) which, given my time off being a sex slave, was the reason i had time to play with my toys :D

Ok, since you're inviting negative opinions: 1. I'm not sure why this is worth a positive number of coins when you've been giving away any number of very similar pieces for free. Seriously, is this so much better? You seem proud of it. In what way do you think it's better?

And: 2. while I find this music fascinating in some sense, trying to judge it aesthetically brings to mind the joke about a snob being someone who can tell a good (Jackson) Pollock from a bad one. How does one tell a good drone piece (by Vurt or otherwise) from a bad one?

Over to you,

Victor.

Not that you asked my opinion but I have always thought that the listener decides the value of what he's listening to. Sure the artist/whoever may put a price on it based on what they need or want but ultimately the listener decides what he's willing to pay.

I don't know about vurt but when I had to come up with a price to charge for my music in the past it had nothing to do with what I though the music is worth (it's worth nothing to me, the stuff just pours out). It was more like a balancing act between the cost I incurred making the product and my understanding that the more money I charge, the fewer people will listen.

Don't mind me, just sticking my $0.02 where they don't belong.

Oh, I'd also like to recommend this warmly to anyone who has an ear for adventure. Even to those, like Steve, who insist on sucking all the fun out of the internets.

first off, this is hardly criticism, more perfectly legitimate questions...
which i will now try to anwer :)

is it better? i honestly dont know, but the mix has more depth to it than most of my previous pieces. it was designed to have hidden depths, through the dynamic interplay and whatnot. it is my opinion that this particular mix, if one wants to enjoy it to its fullest, is worth the download of the 16bit 44.1 wav, which in turn is going to cost money in bandwidth for my host.
now while i dont think im going to sell a huge amount, the free mp3 version is also 50 mins long, which will also add to the bandwidth costs, not to mention as you yourself did all the free stuff ive given in the past, it all adds up.
so mainly its just to help cover costs, as for the particular figure, not 100% arbitary but as i posted it there was an add on tv for one of those "hot girls want to chat with you..." which was 3.50 per minute i figured youd get as much out of my piece as you would out of a minute chatting with some ho

additionally id like to buy a yacht 8)

as justin said, thats entirly up to the listener i guess. but i dont think this is better than previous stuff so much as requires a higher quality file to appreciate fully
this may well be an erroneous thought on my part, and if anyone who donates and really thinks they have had the piss taken i would refund.

but seriously, take a listen to the free piece in full, or at least try to get as much of the different shades as possible, its not strictly a drone piece, its 9 pieces :hihi:
