1. Has anyone maxed this unit yet? Just wondering what it can handle. I know there really isn't just one benchmark...but maybe if its not a problem to run say, Ivory, a couple of Kontakt instances, Symphobia (is this compatible already?), some synths like Atmoshpere/Stylus/Trilogy, Zebra, Korg Legacy (?), maybe some other VA synths. (I'm sticking with an old Quad G5 and giving up a new 8-core Mac for this thing, so would really like for it to cover as much ground as possible)
2. Does Goliath work in the new 1.8(?) Receptors? I read an earlier thread stating that Play doesn't yet work..thread was a couple months old I think...is that still the case?
3. If Play doesn't work yet, or isn't that optimised for the Receptor yet, I assume I can install my old Kontakt versions of EWQLSO Platinum XP, thru Direct Install? I own 2.2, and would most likely get the upgrade to Kontakt 3 if needed.
4. What about the Kontakt Player based VIs? I'd rather just install the library and just use that one Kontakt 3 (or 2) and not install a whole bunch of Kontakt players.
5. A synchrosoft as well as an iLok dongle...no problems both connected?
Oh, and lastly, why is it so quiet in here? Are there just not that many Receptor owners, are most are just not forum type-people...or just too bus working?

Ok I can't answer about maxing out R2 but I think the reason it's so quiet is many hav given up on resolving their problems bscause muse hasn't really done anything, even when they answer and say they will. Time goes on and nothing...

Ah. Well, that kinda sucks. I was actually an early member of this forum because I always thought that the idea was a really good one, but I concluded at the time my needs were too much for the hardware. But after fiddling around with a laptop and external hard drives and audio interface along with the annoying sata/midi/firewire/power cables...well, I thought it might be worth a revisit.
But a strong user community and an active forum I feel is pretty important, especially for those late-night marathons.

Well yea receptor does replace alot of loose ends but the way it is represented and the way it works are not the same and I do mean the way it works. It is a powerful instrument or musical tool but controlling it seems to be difficult for some. VI's that are receptorized or direct to disc are usually earlier versions because Muse is really lazy about updating. They always blame it on the size of their company and the sheer volume of work or they'll tell you they're working on it or they ran into a problem that they're trying to find a solution to. Over a month ago a bunch of us were pushing for a VI update and eventually we got a response that they were working on it. Everybody was all doing they're thank you thing like it was a gift God. Then we got the oh there's a problem and we are looking for a solution and we haven't heard anything since.
With a lot of Vis there are ways around this though, but it requires getting into receptors registry witch voids the warranty and leaves you with the cost of having the hard drive reprogrammed unless you backed it up first. Muse will tell you only they can do backups, but you can back yours up if you use the right app
The Receptor 2 has many upgrades from its predecessor that make it attractive, Gigabyte com, Sata drive, dual core CPU. IF you are considering one. When it comes to computers, especially one of these specializations, get the latest and greatest. Make sure it works with the software and hardware you want to use. I would have to say it will outperform many general computer setups and to try and come up to its league would require weight and expense. The only way that I think you could compete with it is if you build your own computers and again that means more weight.

I've been pretty happy running my Receptor Pro Jr as a Komplete 5 box. Plenty of power for my needs, good stability and low latency. I'm also waiting for Korg Legacy support and in fact just emailed Korg through their user site. You may want to let them know you're interested in this.

Yeah, Korg Legacy is a must for me, as well as Omnishpere...more so probably. I'll probably wait then til they support these two, and maybe hear some more reports on Symphobia running on it. Thanks guys.

I am not sure what you would consider maxxed out but here is one setup I was using last night for a jazz set:
1 FM7, Plastic CZ (from slot 4 routed to channel 1)
2,3,4 B4II
5 Atmosphere
6 z3ta+
7 Zebra2
8 Minimonsta
9 Trilogy
10 Addictive Drums (Sometimes I use Stylus RMX here instead)
11 Stradavari, Kontakt 3 playing my jazz guitar sample in the upper range
12 OP-X Pro (muse says it is buggy, but it runs OK for me)
14 Mr. Ray
15 Ivory - Italian Grand 12
To me, this is maxxed out and very playable. I think OP-X pro is a big CPU hog, but I need it... so I use it a lot.
I also have Acoustik Piano, but I really like the playability of Ivory... and Ivory's D9 Steinway is better the Acoustik piano's version for sure. IMHO.
