Yeah, that's just how I usually see it. Of course it doesn't HAVE to be that way. But I would assume that it's easiest and prevents people from just backing out at the end since they have already paid some money.

just out of interest were the ripped off samples free for use or pay for stuff?

if free he could have given credit, by agreement to original creator of the samples and the other work actually done would have still been worth the download inho

How about a free library from Native Instruments. It's quite good.

The free library from NI is a subset of the factory content. It does however come with some Kore patches if that tickles your fancy. No morph presets, but it does allow you to use Kore (player) if need be.
