I'm interested in getting Omnisphere into my Receptor.
I've been using Atmosphere for a few years, and my live shows depend on it a lot. I'd like to here from anyone that used Atmosphere on their Receptor, and upgraded to Omnisphere. I'd especially like to know how the install effected Atmosphere (if at all) and it's patches & programs?; or if it's totally independent? |

I have Atmosphere on my Receptor and it works great. That being said, I can't run Omnisphere because of the OS 1.8 requirement.
I installed Omnisphere on my PC and I have to say that it is SLOW compared to Atmosphere. Changing patches lags a little bit depending upon how large the patch is, and I never encountered that with any patch on Atmosphere. I think Spectrasonics was trying to deliver an overly impressive product in Omnisphere, but the old adage of keeping it simple should have been kept in mind when designing it. I can only assume that Omnisphere users on the Receptor would still encounter a little bit of this lag. Anyone want to correct me on this educated guess? projektio |

Yes ~ I'd like to hear about that also!
I still need to know how installing Omnisphere might affect my Atmosphere programs... |

If you put Omnisphere on your Receptor, it won't affect your Atmosphere patches - as long as you run Atmosphere. In Omnisphere, they will (if my PC is any guide) load a tad slower, but play fine as long as you have sufficient throughput (RAM, bus and processor speed.) R2 should not have an issue with 'ordinary' patches (keep in mind Omnisphere can overwhelm any processor i am aware of if you get dense with it (118 simultaneous effects, and then add the samples...) But anything from Atmosphere should not stress Omni at all. It runs slow because it does carry so many cylinders under the hood. |

Atmosphere patches for me load at the same speed in Omnisphere. However it is the newer, more FX and sample laden patches from Omnisphere that can run that much slower than its predecessor.

Okay ~ Nobody asked, but I am running the latest OS on a Pro 2.
So, in theory, I could have an existing Atmosphere patch on Track 2, and have Omnisphere on Tracks 1 & 3? Omnisphere will be a separate Plug-In, and does NOT replace, or eliminate Atmosphere? And if I read this correctly, I can load Atmosphere Patches, including my edited 'customized' patches, into Omnisphere? Thanks so much. |

Anxiously waiting to track it's trip from Nevada to me. I'm really looking forward to this! |

JayVee, Omnisphere is way cool... but Onmisphere is slooooow to load scenes. Once you get it, you will be spending the rest of your waking hours trying to get the most out of it. Tell your wife and kids that you will be locked in your studio for at least two weeks without a break. You will have to order in pizza and beer because your fun-o-meter will be way to high to leave your studio.
