What's your favorite synthesizer for making percussion sounds?

Sonic Charge - Micro Tonic

and in Logic - Sculpture & Ultrabeat.

The D16 stuff is really good too.

On top of all of those, with the right effects and a little tinkering, almost any synth can create percussion sounds (well electronic skewed ones anyway)

Im not too keen whith Idea of just using a VSTi synth to create percussion unless it is dedicated to it, your better off whith the real deal.

I would say my Synare is good for creating percussion. That Drum Synze in the
contest is similiar and even though its good in its own right its not the same as the Synare. The Synare can do toms, snare and bass drum, but it does not have noise, which you could add in your computer.

There is more than enough drum sounds on the net to download.

Im trying to remember this drum making program, Im sure someone will mention it. You can import sounds or use the programs sounds and layer them...ect to create different percussion sounds. It has percusion envelope and pitch envelope amongst other things. Its free.....drum boy or something...don't know?

i prefer drumsynths for percussion sounds because they are designed to make drumkits in terms of the GUI and cpu usage.

What about the free ones?

I use Drumatic 3, and I think it's cool, but a little limited.
My problem is creating "that sound" in my head using the synths.
I could ask in the Sound Design forum, but I would flood it! XD

Give a try to Drumatic 3.

when trying to create a sound that's in your head, it's important to remember that you may use any means necessary to recreate it. don't restrict yourself to the synth itself. make a kick in drumatic 3, then layer it with another kick you made, some hihat maybe, resample, eq it, cut the tail, compress it, resample again, there are no limits.

on topic: i'm loving my korg er mkII for percussion tracks. for kicks and snares, i must admit i use samples.

I find KarmaFX or Oddity very useful for making new percussion sounds (in addition to manipulating existing drum samples etc in Reason ReDrum).
