Deadmau5 & Kaskade - I Remember

Note that in the tune, there's three parts I can make out, and for all you naysayers it's very well made!

There's the main chords that I've reproduced, and they have an 1/8th note stereo delay on them. Then there's the 1/8th note reduced voicing da-da-da chords that "meld in" with the stereo delay, creating a wonderful effect. Finally there are some soft pads with a choir like tone that sits behind and glues the sound together.

My chords patch was: 2 saw oscillators, one at -1 octave. I've got a 2 pole LP filter with a filter envelope. The envelope's got a decay to match the source sound and the sustain is sitting at about half way. In my demo you can hear the chords gradually rising in timbre, that's just velocity linked to the filter envelope level. The patch has a soft release too (for the amp and the filter env).

I've added little "character" modulations, small pitch changes and waveform changes - but they're not integral to the sound.

FX wise, you'll want a smooth sounding stereo chorus to widen the sound, and some tube warmth and compression to fatten it up a bit. I've also EQ'd it a bit, shelving the highs down, dropping the low mids a bit and boosting the low.

Two send channels, one for the delay and another for a church style algorithmic reverb.

All those sound too digital still. Not exactly the same. The original is way more warm sounding and phat.



Minimonsta would probably come closest to acheiving the original sound or better.

The real answer is this:

Buy a VSTi. synth. Almost any will do but you'll probably do best with one like Gladiator. Go though the presets making sure you try the mod wheel. Find a similar sound. Tweak to taste. It's not very hard. The sounds are very generic.

Speaking from a purely sonically perspective, BTW, as far as the music is concerned Deadmau5 doesn't do anthing for me.

Very down to earth, open minded and helpful guy. They are super good peoples .
He'd help any of us with our music endeavors if he could.
This is why I can't understand when ppl try to down the guy .
In my books, Deadmau5 is TOPSHELF + 1 on all levels!

Anyhow, with regards to this produc...
I think almost the same sound can be achieved by adding 5ths to the chord progression.
With regards to the effect, it definitely sounds like a rhythmic multi-effect with a gate a LPF is being used.
Try something like CamelSpace to see what I mean.

Not correct. Most of those chords are add2's, with some in different inversions. Badd2, Aadd2, Bmin, etc.
