Trilian seems to work pretty smoothly on my Receptor Pro 2 (better than my Mac Pro). Still working on patch selection though. CPU usage seems less than Omnisphere, but relatively 'spikey'.

Hi Mr. H.
This was mostly a 'proof of concept' kinda thing, just to prove that the engine would work (and to get an idea of performance on Receptor). I did this mostly using the 'unsupported install' method (as described in the User Guide). Since Trilian is basicly the same engine as Omnisphere, I suspected that it would work on Receptor 2 & OS 1.8.
I essentially copied over the data files into a STEAM folder for Trilian (same parent STEAM folder as Omnisphere), and copied over the .dll from the Spectrasonics site. As well as having updates for the .dll on mac/pc, they also have a separate .dll download for Receptor there.
So Trilian sees the soundsource library, and allows you to select these on the A/B voices. I have not been able to point Trilian to the patches/multis yet. This is what MUSE will configure with Spectrasonics when they create an installer for Trilian. So for my 'proof', I can create Receptor patches, but I can't load factory presets (yet).
None the less, I'm happy to report the sound is stunning, and the CPU levels seem to be reasonable - probably better than Omnisphere.

Definitely does help - I'm trying to decide between this and some Scarbee basses, and your underlying intuition (relying on the same engine) hopefully means that an installer will be easy for Muse to get up and going soon.

Spectrasonics has posted some updates. The Trilian.dll has been updated to version 1.1.3c which DOES find all patches and multis. There is an associated patch library update that I was able to manually drop files into my Steam folder to update.
So now Trilian seems to work with full functionality. I can load all multis and patches. Performance is quite zippy too. I think Trilian/Receptor is going to be a killer combination - I'm already getting dizzy playing the keyswitch Chapman Stick multi!

I don't really know for sure - I only installed Trilian on a machine that had Omnisphere there before. So the STEAM folder was already setup on my machine, and I could simply copy the Trilian parts inside of it. If you know where to create this dir (I think it is under /Program Files/Spectrasonics/STEAM), you probably could create the STEAM dir by hand). Not sure though - there might be other configuration files that point Trilian/Omnisphere to this folder.
Other than this, there was a custom-info.xml file that went along with Omnisphere, I think I duplicated and edited this file for Trilian before installing it.
In any case, if you don't have Omnisphere on Receptor, you should consider it - it is brilliant.

Thanks for the info LooneyTunes. I installed Trillian using the unsupported method... however, the resulting plugin name is now "Ruby"! EVenthough I go into the .xml and change the description, it still displays "Ruby" instead of "Trillian". Odd? Maybe |"Ruby" is a code word or somebody's girl friend! Of course it doesn't affect the playability of Trillian. I just love it... and you are right, you just can't stop paying the Chapman Stick patches! Congrats to Eric P. and the Spectrasonics crew again. They have another winner! I just buy everything they sell. You just can't go wrong.
Now, all we need is a 1-Terabyte Solid State Drive and we are in heaven. I never thought there would be a day when I would say that I needed a 1TB drive. Unfortunately, I still remember the days when a 4K drive was considered large. Ha! Ha! The fact that Muse is offering a 256GB SS drive... just doesn't cut it, because the plugins and other sample libs etc. take up about 200GB... which doesn't leave much room for Omnisphere, Trillian and Ivory, not to mention Stradavari, Scarbee, Mr. Sax T and The Trumpet.

Yeah I know what you mean about the SSD Drives. I think this could be alleviated by a secondary drive (or 'Samples' drive), but the Muse OS doesn't yet support two drives. Given that the Receptor 2s have an ESATA port on the back, I would expect that they have intention for this kind of support in the future.
Meanwhile, larger SSD drives are becoming available, and I expect MUSE will keep an eye on those developments. 2TB drives are also coming out in numbers, and I'm sure Muse has been looking at those.

A minor scale is a major scale starting 3 half steps down from the major and visa versa. Any Chord has as many versions as it has notes.

Just curious if you got it to work without the omnisphere-based work around from above - or whether it was just installed on its own. Yes,I had Omnisphere running on my Receptor 2 before I installed Trillian. I would think if you just place the files in the necessary folders you should be OK. Just so you all know, we are working very closely with Spectrasonics on Trillian as we speak, and we should be releasing the "official" version, (with rpm installer), very soon. There are a few issues, as you guys have found, and although it works, we are working with the fine folks at Spectrasonics to get it dialled in.
