Hey guys,

Wondering if anyone could help me out. I've been working on recreating some of the sounds that are used in the track The Worm by ZZT (Tiga & Zombie Nation collab).

This song:

So it's not the bass I'm worried about (searched the forums and already found a topic about that :hihi:).

I want to recreate the metallic instrument (or sample) you hear at the beginning of the song. I have no idea how i would make such a thing in a synthesizer (I'm not a sound syntheses wizard) or trough other ways.
The other sound I'm trying to make is the high squeecky kind of sound that comes in right about 10 seconds after the start of the song.

As said, I'm not a pro in programming synthesizers although I already tried a lot but I just can't seem to find a way to come anywhere near these original ones.

Thanks a lot ,
cheers :)

Okay, so the metal instrument isn't that much of a problem any more. The other 'squeeky'kind of sound is :hihi: I just can't seem to come anywhere near it, seems to have a quite metallic edge as well but it's hard to define the sound let alone recreate it. So if someone would be willing to help me out, thanks a lot!

Could anyone help me out? It's for an assignment in class, has to be finished on Tuesday  :?

Well to start you definitely need to use an envelope to make the pitch drop when you play the note. Sounds like there's some filtering going on in there too. I've got a similar patch in Logic's ES2 but I'm not quite there yet. What kind of synthesizer are you using?

I spent about five minutes with this on Sylenth1, i went for the main element of the sound 30 seconds in. some reverb and chorus would add more to it to get that squelchy watery effect if the time was spent on it..

it may not be exact but the general idea is there maybe..

Thanks for the help guys!

@AuthenticDan: An envelope to make the pitch drop? I don't hear any pitch drop, but maybe I'm crazy :-o I tried building it in Sylenth1 coincidently but as I said I'm no synth building wizard. At least I'm not really good at it yet. I'm trying though, started learning the basics of sound syntheses etc.

@Narrator: Wow! Thanks, that actually sounds pretty close. Could you tell me how you made it, what settings you used etc. (or even send me the patch, but I don't want to come across so that you to do all the work hehe  ) As I stated above, tried making it in Sylenth but didn't come far. Man I really need to start learning this stuff...
