Spectral Anomaly will be coming soon..... :D

I have been experimenting with using only images to create sound in Camel Audio's Alchemy instrument and these are some of the first results.

http://www.westgatesounds.com/SpectralAnomaly/

The first soundset will be single sampled, 44KHz 16 bit sounds, .wav and .sf2.

No presets for any instrument. This is an experiment to see if anyone is interested in these kinds of sounds.

If there is interest, it will be the beginning of a whole new Anomaly series....

There are 4 audio demos on the page linked above....

I hope there is, as I've generated (pushing) 80GB's worth of these "experiments" over the past 10 years, and continue to pursue it with ever-increasing enthusiasm.

I hope it goes well for you. Your examples ROCK!!!

Very nice!

Good luck with these, and for giving Alchemy a plug for its creative input :)

Like Shabdahbriah I've also been generating spectral image inspired audio files for years - I even contributed a couple to the Alchemy Factory library, under the names Coagula 2.wav and Coagula31.wav (in the Soundscapes/Single Note folder).

I think their name give away the application I used to create them ;)

Hey Martin, I really dug the above examples when I first got Alchemy. Thanks for that. 8)

Not to hijack the thread, (please PM me if you'ld prefer I delete this) but for either of you (or anyone)...

Just in case you're not aware of it, or haven't tried it yet, there is an interestingly different approach to an "image-synth" (spectrogram based synthesizer) in the DC-09 challenge called SpectroBits

It isn't "Alchemy" nor "Coagula", or "Photosounder" (et al), but there is certainly potential as it is, and in its (hopeful) future developement.

It is more "fun" than what the brief video demo can convey.

:D doesn't it just kick-ass?!!!

I'm really impressed with it, particularly as it is a first effort release.

Glad you like it as well.

I've just updated the page.... :D

http://www.westgatesounds.com/SpectralAnomaly/

41 sounds in either .wav or .sf2 format for only $5.

Like I said, this was all an experiment and if there is interest in this I will make a full Anomaly library using this way of generating samples.
