Well, I knew it was only a matter of time. The G# right in the middle of my PCR-80 is now completely dead. Guess I'll have to call support on Monday.

I bought a pcr-m1 yesterday in a big store, ex-demo, and got some problem with 4 keys. They just send 127 velocity, or just velocity under 20...
I feel like the fu**in vendor had stole my money!
I'll bring back tomorrow, hope they'll change this one with a new one working...
or give back my money!

hope it's possible even if it's an ex-demo one...

edit: by the way if i can chose another model you think I should?
I like the slim concept, and even the feeling with keys is ok for me... I mean the keys that are actually working

@frollo9386: I think they should be willing to take it back if you just purchased it. It might have been a demo unit, but unless it was sold "as is", they are still required to sell you a functional product.

Follow up on my PCR-80: Roland USA was very friendly on the phone. They gave me an RMA to ship it back, and said there would be no charge for repair even though it was years out of warranty. I'll let you know how it goes when I get the keyboard back.

god some of my keys are dying again

I took the whole thing apart last year cleaned everything did the erasure trick and alcohol cleaning worked great for a while. Anyone know who to contact in canada?

Contact Roland.. the problem is known to them. If you tell them you're capable enough to install yourself they'll send you the newer replacement keypads for under the keys. Just got to use isopropyl alcohol to clean the contacts on the board when you put em in. It was a faulty design. I did it and now mine has worked 100% ever since.

Word to the wise:
After not hearing anything from Roland two weeks after they received my PCR-80, I finally called them up. They informed me that they were waiting for me to send them a copy of my original sales receipt, and had not begun repair work yet. If I were unable to produce the receipt, they were going to charge me close to $200 for the repairs! Obviously, that information was not divulged to me until long after I paid to ship my keyboard to Roland. Not only that, but they had no intention of ever contacting me... they were just going to sit on it until I eventually called to find out what was happening!

I bought the PCR-80 years ago, and doubt I still could still locate the receipt. Thankfully, after wracking my brain a little bit, I was able to remember who I purchased it from: Florida Music Company. (They're awesome... give them a call!) They were able to pull up my original invoice and email it to me. Whew!

Roland are now supposedly doing the repairs, although I have no idea how long it will be before they send it back. I figure I'll probably just come home one day to find it sitting out in the rain on my front doorstep... or not, if someone else finds it first.

the replacement keypad strips are SO easy to put in yourself. You take the top off and remove the keys and just put the new one in the exact same way the old one was seated. I'd never opened a keyboard in my life and had no problems whatsoever. I suggest making them send you the pads to replace yourself.. just tell them you have experience with taking apart electronics.

They sent mine out to me at no cost even though my PCR30 was 3 years old (didn't tell them that, just told them I'd hardly used it) and I didn't even have to send them my receipt. If you don't have your receipt just say it was a gift and you don't have it. Stand your ground, get a bit pissed off about their flawed design if you have to, and you can get it sent out to you at no charge I'd bet. You can also say it happened to a friend and they sent him out the keypads. If all fails, just call back on a diff day and talk to someone else.. but I had absolutely ZERO problems and found them to be super cool.

Some of the keys on my Edirol PCR-50 are dying!
