Hello all. I've been a creeper on these boards for a little bit, but now I am trying to take my production and DJ work more seriously.
For the dubstep producers here, I was wondering if you always wobble your sub bass (< 100hz range) or if you just wobble the stuff above 100hz? It seems that it could be a matter of preference, but for dancefloor bangers I was wondering about your approach and experience.

it depends from song to song, but usually u wooble the low frequences, the important thing is to keep the 60hz under control in a live situation,
use a visual pligin 4 have a visual feedback of all the frequency range (voxengo span is good n free)
and use a multiband compressor (or eq) or a low pass/high pass filter for control it

That's funny you bring that up. My next purchase was going to be Multi-Inspector for visual frequency representation across tracks. I'm going to download Span and check it out tonight though before I make my purchase. Thanks for the tip, you may have just saved me some $$.
In the track I am working on, I have my sub (low sine wave) separated out as a completely different track, away from the the main bassline/lead. That being said, would a compressor and an EQ on each track do the trick, or would you prefer to bus the sub and bass/lead together on another track and then use the multi-band comp?

It's a matter of preference/style IMO. There's nothing "wrong" production wise with LFO'ing your sub sine. Because your sub and your top are in different frequency ranges they won't clash (unless you're using sub with harmonics).
Try it out yourself and listen. If it sounds good, use it
Personally I like to keep my sub sine dry, as it's only one frequency you shouldn't need EQ or compression (use the synths features to tweak it's behaviour). The top bass tho, that can have plenty of processing. That's the point of separating your sub bass from your top bass really. You can mess with your top as much as you want, and still retain a even sounding low end.
As a final little confusing note, some producers intentionally break this "rule" and come up with some amazing sounding basses that rely on phase cancellation and all kinds of inconsistencies to get a specific character.. so in the end your ears are the final judge.

if u want control together the sub n the synth u can bus them in a group track.
about phase cancellation if u feel the sub doesn't fit with the synth because there are some frequences issues use 2 instances of span 4 check where the problem may be, for exhample at 150 hz there's some sub's harmonics that go against the synth's low mids, u can decide to low pass the sub in its mixer channel and high pass the synth always in its own channel and then route them to the bus channel where the multiband eq/comp is

Thanks alot for the help fellas. I have a little bit more focus now. Definitely going to try out the wobble both ways and also see how the multi-comp effects the subs, with and without it.
I'm also going to try to to do some critical listening of other tracks, not to copy outright, but to see if I can breakdown the sound I want. I really like what I'm hearing from Caspa, Rusko, 12 Planet, Excision and Datsik at the moment. Basically as dirty as I can make it is my goal.
