Does the Pro version have the same issue with the mouse cursor when using speed dial? Thanks.

It still does it in the non-Pro version so don't see why the Pro would be any different.musikmachine wrote:Does the Pro version have the same issue with the mouse cursor when using speed dial? Thanks.
EDIT: note to self. Stop bagging on Novation.
Anyone want to buy a Nocturn?

I upgraded today and the little additions make a big difference, especially auto view. I'm still getting used to it myself but i'm quite happy with my nocturn.condra wrote:So how are you guys liking Automap 3?
I bought Pro today. Seems ok. Just getting used to Automap anyway.

Eh?!? Wow, charging for it... Not wanting to pay extra $30 for software I believe I am entitled to based on purchasing an expensive controller means that Novation miss out on the price of another controller; I will make sure to only keep one now. :)

Am I the only one who hates Automap?
I have a remoteSL controller for almost 2 years and never used it.
You have to remap each plugin you want to use, which mean if I want to take the song on the road in my laptop without SL controller it wont work because the plugins are different in automap version (at lease AUs).
In a fresh install I didnt install the damn thing. I use SL as normal controller.
Am I missing something ?

The latest version is very nice. They have got it right this time imo. I don't know how it works with the other controllers but you can switch plugins from the nocturn with the touch sensitive knobs. You can also switch groups so you can control your mixer, external hardware and non automapped plugins if you like. You could always get a nocturn and take that with you but it depends on whether you're ok with paying for the upgrade. I think the A3 pro will be included with the new controllers but you'll probably still have to pay for the nocturn.
For the functionality it adds it is well worth it. The software feels like a natural extension of the controller and not something bolted on. Of course YMMV!

Revive! What do we think about Automap 3? Despite my hesitation expressed upthread, I upgraded to 3 Standard this week -- partly out of boredom (been snowed in for 4 days) and partly bc I figure the bugs would be addressed by now. It seems to work well on my setup -- the only downside being that it seemed to jumble some of my templates -- what w the programmability of the xy pad and drumpads. I'm almost inclined to buy Pro simply so I can fix them now!

This is definitely not right. There is no reason you wouldn't be able to use the automapped versions without the SL.Nimrod7 wrote: You have to remap each plugin you want to use, which mean if I want to take the song on the road in my laptop without SL controller it wont work because the plugins are different in automap version (at lease AUs).
I suggest using the VST automap versions though, because if one day you decide to trash all your automap software and automapped VSTs, all saved songs will open the regular VSTs instead of the automapped ones previously there, with all settings preserved. AUs won't do this. But even if you must use AUs, the automapped ones will still work fine with no SL.

I'v been on Automap3.0 (on WindowsXP) for quite a long time now, and I was thinking about taking the jump to Automap3.4 after installing windows7. However I'm a bit afraid if it will involve somekind of ReMOteSL OS upgrade that will prevent itfrom working well with XP if I need to go back to XP (I'll keep XP by installing win7 in a separate partition). So, what do you guys think?... Are my fears unfounded?... I'm always afraid when moving up from something that is basically working well, but I really need to make the jump to windows7 to prepare for a later jump from nuendo3 to cubase5 or nuendo5 before I'm lagging so much behind with cubase upgrades that it will become much more expensive in the future.Naive Teen Idol wrote:Revive! Well, the rule of thumb is, "if it ain't broke..." But you feel you need the update so that's your version of broke. I'd be lying if I said I never screwed up everything in persuit of a few new features.Axis1~SL61 wrote:I'v been on Automap3.0 (on WindowsXP) for quite a long time now, and I was thinking about taking the jump to Automap3.4 after installing windows7. My PC is totally ready for Windows7, I've made the Microsoft test with their testing software. I can't buy a separate machine right now, and moreover this one is perfectly capable -- Pentium D , (one of the first dual cores), 2x3.2GHz processor and 2GB RAM that can easily be expanded to 4GB if needed. Video card also compatible with win7, etc, as I said, it passed all the MS tests for win7. So, my way of not destroying my old system is to make this PC dual boot , keeping WinXP intact as it is in it's own partition and installing win7 on another totally separate partition.zerocrossing wrote:[...] If I were you, if you could I'd upgrade the machine at the same time and just plow though it.
What I am afraid of is if the reMoteSL will need some kind of upgrade of it's own internal OS to work with win7 and Automap 3.4 ... and if this will not prevent it later from working well with winXP when I need to go back to winXP if this need arises (and I'm sure it will) to correct, for example, missing VSTis in projects being transferred/adapted from the old to the new system...

Yes, working on my fifth day of being snowed in, I took the plunge myself. Right now, I'm trying to figure out what the best use of the keystroke stuff is -- and how to use the drumpads as velocity sensitive non-note pads. They stop working in Automap when I change them to cc controls.
How are other folks using the new features? I'd be interested to know what folks do using a DAW like Live...

3.0 always worked great for me and 3.1 and 3.2 were nightmares. 3.4 now seems good again. Except it still bothers me that now you can only see one value updating on the lcd screen at a time, whereas at 3.0 you could see many changing when tweaking more than one control.
The annoying thing for me right now is that I own an SL61 mkI (which works great) and recently bought an SL25 mkII to have at home, but my templates made on the mkI are completely messed up on the mkII. I've been in contact wiht support but unless they figure something out, I can't use automap on the mkII unless I want to redo everything, which I'd rather not.
