FXpansion BFD or Toontrack EZdrummer/superior drummer?

I would take the chance to check out Drumaxx. Until the end of March you can litteraly get it cheap as hell. Other choice: I use ezdrummer. Korg M1 has some phat drums as do WusikStation.

It all depends on what kind of music you need drums for.
I, for example, use mostly Addictive Drums because it has Tama kit.

BFD2 sounds amazing, especially if you've got a powerful enough system (and enough patience) to bump the detail levels up to the highest setting. This is what we use in the studio for most of our drum needs. It is a tweaker's dream. My main issue with BFD is that i'll often spend an hour trying to "build the perfect kit" when I could have spent that hour tracking drums and getting actual work done. I am in love with the level of control, though... changing the keymapping is pretty straightforward if you find the GM standard awkward for finger drumming, and the actual sound of the kit can be tweaked in so many ways to perfectly fit each song. As a drummer -> I LOVE BFD2. Sometimes I get a hard-on when I turn on the BFD hard drive. Also, it comes with some cool stickers.

EZDrummer is quick and easy, but I feel the sounds are too "produced" out of the box. This is great if you want a quick, production-ready drum sound, but being a drummer I like to tinker with as many aspects of the drum sound as I can. I personally use XLN AddictiveDrums on my laptop when I'm making tracks away from the studio; i find it to be a nice balance of lightweight/customizable/easy/good-sounding. It's definitely no BFD-killer but I find I can dial up an acceptable drum sound with it in a matter of minutes.

Of course, just as often as I use AddictiveDrums, I'll fire up good ol' SFZ with Kingston's Ruffrider/Easyrider kits or one of the many free PettinHouse kits, especially if i'm trying to make a "dirty" beat i.e. for hip-hop, trip-hop, lo-fi, etc.

Satisfied with the BFD Jazz and Funk expansion on 32bit PC. I no longer look for drums. The new Heavy Drums for BFD2 looks like another good expansion

Superior Drummer. After watching a few Videos Online, you start to appreciate how flexible, and how professional all of the people, and every other aspect of this product/production is.

I prefer Toontrack products simply because of their great sound and how they integrate with a V-drum setup.
Superior is great for tweaking and EZdrummer is my favourite when i need to get a great sound fast.
Addictive has more tweaking options but the basic sound isnt as great as the Toontrack stuff IMHO.
Never tried BFD2 but wasnt too impressed with the sound of BFD1.

Very flexible, great mix of drum choices, and can merge sets. Great mixer with good internal mix/routing/effects.

Very good support, and good variety of libraries.

Good, lean CPU usage as well.

BFD 2 with the Platinum Samples expansion kits. Jim Scott kit is awesome.

Building kits and swapping out pieces is easy. lots of expansion kits available.

Kits load quickly.

i suggest NI Battery or Kontakt with decent kits, because its the most flexible solution.
or Mixosaurus Expert Virtual Drums just because its so f****** big.
I also use XLN AD, but Sonic Reality Ocean Way Drums is also pretty nice.
you should just listen to some demo sounds, an check which suits best.
