Sure it can! The new versions of crusherX-Live! 4 and crusherX-Studio! 2 supports multiple CPU granular synthesis. That means you can generate hunderts of grains in a live setup. Give it a try, the demo is free available on http://www.crusher-x.comocmtime wrote:can these synths make 100 detuned osclators out of one from incoming audio?

I would like to see how it sounds in this situation:
Time freezing the live audio input and then stacking 100 duplicates of that and creating an automated detune of the duplicates from perfect unison to very very detuned sound (close white noise) .
there is a "pass through preset project" that would be the starting point for this .
can you guide me to achieve my described goal with the detuned duplicates and automation of detune ?

Ok, here we go with crusherX-Live!
- File -> New -> Thru
- Increase Vapor L and Vapor R volume in Mixer to 0db, decrease output volume to -32db
- load file into sampler, press loop, let it play
- uncheck auto in input trigger, so that you can manually "fill" the crusher input. You can input additional live sound later on.
- create 100 generators in Vapor panel
- check "Length" tab in Vapor Modulations
- Offset to e.g. 600ms
- check "Birth" tab
- Offseet to e.g 500ms
- Check "Speed" tab
- Offset to 0.5
- Depth to 0.5
- Mode to OffUp (100&)
- Run, you hear everything in perfect pitch.
- Press "Manual" in Trigger section to "refill" the buffer in case you like to hear new sounds
- Then start turning (small amounts, e.g. with the mouse wheel) the "Gen. Phase" slider of "Speed" tab and you will hear "strong phasing artefacts" (as expected) that are going to turn into kind of "pitch chaos" if you increase the phase
Same works with crusherX-Studio! beside the sampler input, use live input sound instead.
Hope that helps,
best

By the way:
Do that stuff with your surround system that is connected to the 5 or better 8 outputs of the crusher! You'll fly away!
- As I said in the past: Don't underesthimate the effect of surround sounds in your film scores or music system! It is one path of future music...
