No matter how much I try to search, I only end up with MIDI information sites, any set will do fine, since I only have the basic set.
Thanks, any unofficial set will be great. |

Thanks, any unofficial set will be great. I posted last year looking for GM soundfonts, and got many replies. I can't find the post at the moment, but if you search under my avatar name, it might show up. Greg ---- Don't ask me, I just play here. |

Although not a soundfont, my current favorite GM soundsets are
(1) Sonic Reality Omnisoundz2 (Kontakt Player) (2) Wusikstation GM soundset (although I have a boatload of others, including the original Sampletank-based Omnisynth, Forte DXI, Edirol VSC-MP1, and others). Ntonyx 32MB GM soundfont is free, and pretty decent http://www.ntonyx.com/sf_f.htm Hammersound and other sites have GM soundfonts as well, although they tend to be a mixed bag - one may have great brass but mediocre strings, another may have good strings but terrible Hammond organ, etc. Doug ---- Logic is a pretty flower that smells bad - Spock, in "I, Mudd" For a good time click http://www.belindabedekovic.com/video_fl_en.htm |

If I remember correctly, sf2midi has reviews and/or ratings for many of the soundfonts from those who download them. The quality really does vary considerably. ---- We escape the trap of our own subjectivity by perceiving neither black nor white but shades of grey |

i've gotten some really good ones (the casio sets and the analog synths), and then I gave gotten some real crap (horns, theremin...). I would definitely sign up for sfmidi2. they NEVER send any spam and have a huge selection. for free. can't beat that with a stick. ---- macbook 2.4 GHz Intel Core Duo, 4 gigs ram, 250GB HD, Logic Studio 9 my blog and some music: http://rabbitearsmotel.wordpress.com/ |
