Hi, folks.

Is there anyone out there beside me who thinks of using Mdrummer for drums despite of having FLs? Really It's fantastic, flexable and everything but I don't want to jump and buy it only to discover later that I have made the wrong decission, as I did with other Drumming VSTi, and with the existing millions of people out there who use FLs for their drums?

I want to hear from Mdrummer users who had this experience and how it was a big jump/change from merely using FLs when it comes to making drums.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this?

If I'm not mistaken, MDrummer has something like the Jamstix drum "brain", right? That brain plays realistic parts, fills, intros etc. If that's the case, there's nothing in FL Studio that can do that. If you don't need realistic drum parts though, FL Studio (with that fantastic step sequencer) should do just fine.

I would and I did!

MDrummer kicks serious arse. It has a full drum brain that gives you loads of flexibility. It's far more powerful than FLs step sequencer, which I only use now to trigger tracks in MDrummer!

The Rhythm editor makes it stupidly easy to generate clips or entire drum tracks in a click. You can drag the resulting midi into FL studio if you want, but that would be ignoring the superb sampled drumkits, and the incredibly powerful drumsynth (which has quickly become my favourite). I am more than a little addicted to the random kit generator. All topped-off with a modular suite of top-notch Melda FX.

There is a demo of the full version included in MDrummer3 small. It deserves a good seeing-to.

It's surprising to me the Mdrummer doesn't get a lot more attention than it does. Maybe people consider it their secret weapon?

While you're there pick up the free Melda FX bundle. The creative bundle is also worth a punt (I got it free with Mdrummer in the GB, and they quickly displaced my other FX).

The developer is super-prolific, so any problems or requests receive immediate attention.

About the free bundle, are they separate vsti that you are talking about, or do you mean the plugins that are included inside mdrummer?

Also I want to know whether Mdrummer causes a heavy CPU load on FLs when you have added all the needed FXs to your drums?

I honnestly doubt that I would buy Mdrummer specially as FLS has allready a primitive brain onboard that very few people is using. It's called the layer channel. Hilite the random button, let it play either an empty sample or a snare drum. Then add the steps where you want the sound to be played. It is maybe not as effective as the Mdrummer's brain, but done the right way it can generate some really groovy rhythms.
