... They came for the drummers .. with their drum machines
but I did nothing because I was not a drummer.
... then they came for the bassists ... with their enveloped waveforms and 1024 stage memories.
But I did nothing for I had no sympathy for quiet guys who would buy my girl a drink from the money I paid them as way of talking her into my bed for a shag when I was convinced he had gone home to his own.
Then they came for the organists and pianists with their midi and synthesised sounds,
But still I did nothing for I was neither a plinker nor a plonker, and realised not the power said instrumentalists would gain at the expense of others by way of the technology that a simple case of skills transfer would allow them to take advantage of.
Then they came for the skills transferred keyboard players with their improved midi commands, their unlimited sequencing capacity, and step sequencing, note correction, sampling etc
But I did nothing because I was so shit on the keyboard I laughed as they turned up at my door with pizza in hand while I was composing slowly on my 'qwerty'
Then they came for the guitarists with their vstis with accompanying vast sample libraries that a qwerty-man could access with one finger.
But I did nothing because I was never a fantastic guitarist anyway, and had long moved on to mandolin and bouzouki and making a very nice living thank you very much!
And then ....

.... helloooo ... anybody out there? :(

It was bound to happen sooner or later, Tattie. Virtual instrument technology had already picked off the low-hanging fruit, what with the instruments you mentioned plus monster grand pianos and orchestral instruments and sections, so now has to look for those "niche" instruments.

If it's any consolation, the software-based bouzouki "player" just ain't as warm and cuddly as the real thing! (Well, maybe to some...)

Timfonie, yes, surely the next big Christmas must-have will be "Rockstar - for Bouzouki!"

Post

it was inevitable. i mean, it just ain't rock and roll without a bouzouki.

I have a friend who plays bouzouki. One time when crossing the North/South border in Ireland the soldier asked "whats in the case ? ".
When he told the soldier it was his Bouzoiki the car was swiftly directed into a concrete room and dismantled, while Richard and chums were searched at gunpoint. The soldier thought had replied " It's my Bazooka".

I'll wait a while to see if the price gets discounted, but this does sound pretty good in the demoes. I don't know enough about the physical instrument to be sure they've included all the options needed to make performances credible, but it sure looks like they tried. Anyone actually bought it?

To me it'll be perfect for everything but 'Mediterranean music' ... delta blues, reggae, mutant heavimetal, whatever :P

Thanks for the warning, tattie ....

I've put mine, and the little'un, under lock and key ... just in case :o
