Jesper at Propellerheads is an old collegue of mine, and he's a great programmer. In case you need to dig deep into the inner workings in Reason, I'm sure he'll help you out if allowed and if he finds the time. /Sp-Sp (Petter at NoteHeads) ---- Making music is a nine-to-five job: From 9 PM to 5 AM. |

Got something done for the osc.. Despite the fact that I encounteret a nasty bug, that somehow made it impossible to load previously saved project.. So i pretty much had to do it in a one go. It came out pretty rough, but hey, chimera is a rough synth Recovering Chimera - Cubensick plugins used: Ableton Live EQ8, Kjäerhus Classic Delay, Antress Modern Compressor, Antress Modern Exciter, Antress Modern Flashverb, Ambience |

Hm, yeah, I'm suffering from problems when re-loading projects, too. The plugins crash on load (FL Studio 9). Damn, I liked the track so far Regards, Andre |

Alright, I submitted my entry:
Brick in the sky (Noise fest) by Peter Gone Sonic 17 instances of Chimera Plus: BLOCKFISH C3 Multiband compressor Density MkII BuzzMaxi Fruity Parametric EQ 2 Fruity Reeverb 2 Made with in FL Studio 9.6 beta Like Cubensick I had to pull it off in one session once I restored my crashing version. There are some timing bugs that I could not get rid of, sorry for that. I'm not totally happy with the track, but I can't further work on it now and I won't be able to open it anymore. So it's this version or nothing I guess Chimera is a great synth, it's a shame it has those technical issues (for me). |

I'm really horrible with names. I work at XLN Audio and we've recently hired one of the old Propellerheads programmers, Mattias Karlgren. And we also work with Magnus Lidström of Sonic Charge who did a bunch of stuff for Reason. Propellerheads new office is actually in the same building as ours. So we run into the guys pretty often when we're out at lunch. It's a small world. I haven't seen Igor Engraver before. I write stuff for the swedish magazine Studio, so I'll keep it in mind for future articles about sheet music and notation. |

I had no problems with that number of instances (CPU was around 40% IIRC) as long as I did not reopen the project. |

Haha, it's like the analog days. Where you'd get once chance at mixing a song on the desk. Can't reopen and continue. Great to hear that the cpu usage is low even though there were other big problems. I spent a lot of time trying to optimize Chimera. |

Can't believe I never made this connection before, Majken! Thanks for participating in "your" OSC! I sure wish I would've had the time to submit a tune in this OSC - I really like the Chimera sound. |

I had an idea yesterday about a mod or derivation of Chimera using real world sound samples, but you say optimising was a big thing. Would having a largish sample library necessarily reduce performance I wonder?
Seeing how I've got you on the line I'd like to propose a volume standard for all upcoming vst's. Also, dealing with noise, I was wondering if anyone's heard of a plug that can act like a dolby/dbx button on an old tape deck. This to reverse the dolby/dbx on old tape transfers (a minor niche perhaps, but if I;m interested there must be thousands of others...) |

Hehe, yeah. Maybe we could do a new kind of competition: one take only Quote: Great to hear that the cpu usage is low even though there were other big problems. I spent a lot of time trying to optimize Chimera.
As a reference, I run a Core2Duo 6750 (2x2,67 GHz), so it's not even a very new CPU. Nice programming job! I hope you can sort out the technical problems. Regards, Andre |

Either don't use any, or - are you nuts? Think of some of the original drum modules that appeared on home organs - noise oscs all. Take it slowly - hhats cymbals are nearly noise Snare is almost indistinguishable from noise Simmons synth snare is absolute noise 808/909 Bass drum and toms are just a couple of sines Cowbell is higher version of toms My problem is that there can ony be one winner. I've got a feeling that all enties are going to deserve being on a compilation cd Also can I upload through hotmail? I really am quite computer illiterate... |

Uploaded mine, it's called :
"Echidna's Daughter". I used : 9 x Chimera (*). Track FX : 5 x ReaComp Some trackEQ, NO automation. Master Fx : 1 x NyquistEQ (3 band) 1 x VoxengoMSed 1 x TLs Maximizer. (*) Wanted to use more but my PC wouldn't let me Oh yeah, there is a weird "drop" around 2:48 but I didn't want to go through the horror of rendering this track again Enjoy. |

Hi. I uploaded "Obstacle".
FL Studio 9.1 13x Chimera 1x Antress Modern Compressor 6x Fruity Parametric EQ 3x EpicVerb Strange, the lead synth near the end sounds fine in the host but renders wobbly sounding. I left it anyways. Ed |
