Synesthesia is a combined waveshaper / EQ / dynamics processor that is designed to be very light on the CPU, but sounds hi-fi enough to be put on the master buss without hesitation. A special combination of frequency-dependent harmonics generation and oversampling reduces aliasing way below audible levels, allowing smooth coloration of input material free of unwanted artifacts.

Synesthesia features highly flexible - per harmonic definition of distortion / waveshaping characteristics, opening up possibilities to emulate static distortion of many nonlinear devices. It is also possible to use it as a dynamics processor by setting up the dynamic waveshaper curve with respective attack and release time constants.

Some basic facts:
- VST 2.4 effect plugin
- Win32
- 2 ch in / 2 ch out
- All parameters subject to automation except for the distortion characteristics graphs
- Demo is fully functional but injects some white noise every 120 seconds

You can purchase a full license at http://weldroid.bandcamp.com/track/synesthesia-vst. Price is 'whatever think it is worth to you', with a minimum set to EUR 5 to cover for overhead costs.

I will do my best to fix any errors as ASAP, but all potential customers are encouraged to try the plugin in demo mode first and go ahead with the purchase if - and only if - the demo seem to work without any issue in their environment.

The copy protection itself is based on a keyfile that needs to be placed where the .dll is installed and is tied to the user name alone. No re-authorization will ever be required and one license shall be valid for all future versions.

With all of the bugs eradicated (or - to be more precise - no bugs has been found during some months of testing) it is time to lift the revision of Synesthesia VST to 'A'. Actually PA1 is fine too - for the same reason ;-).

Synesthesia is available at the very price you think it is worth, just head to http://weldroid.bandcamp.com/track/synesthesia-vst and get Synesthesia VST and I will be happy to send you your personalized license key file to the e-mail address you specify at purchase.

Please note that there is a minimum price set to EUR 5 to cover processing/overhead costs.

Cheers,
Weldroid

Dear friends,

Synesthesia revision 'A' is now available for download at the link above. The noise in the demo version is no more, feel free to use/evaluate it as long as you like.

If you wish to support the development of this product (or the stuff I have in the works) please consider purchasing a license at:

No love for this? I've been playing with it for the last hour or so, it can be quite useful. I recommend anyone give it a try.

Thanks for your recommendation, it is really appreciated.

I think this one does gets a very limited amount of love, because its kind of concept and especially controls. Normally people know what an EQ or compressor does, and usually they can appreciate those kind of plugs because they know what to do with them, whereas there is really no such signal coloration device in 'real life' as Synesthesia, even though what it simulates happens all the time in traditional effects as well. You can configure it to behave (to generate harmonics) like a tape machine, a solid-state circuit, a tube or anything in-between, but because it is trying to be a jack of all trades, one has to understand how it works, and there is no easy association with something with pedigree. People usually associate analog warmth with specific products (Pultec EQ, Studer tape deck, whatever) and not phenomena like static / dynamic waveshaping (not saying that the afforementioned pieces of hardware does nothing else than waveshaping, but static/dynamic nonlinearities do significant contribution to their sound).

So maybe I should have prepared a tape machine like GUI, and have limited the configuration options to chose between different tape-saturation presets, and hardcoded the filter coefficients to simulate certain pre-emphasis curves… and then it would get some more love...

Note: there seems to be a bug on Reaper and FL Studio that makes the black/white graphs behave strangely. The bug is fixed and available in a preliminary build (under testing, so far so good):

I think it's pretty cool, haven't had much time to really test, but I stay away from the "sound" of eq's, so I'm trying out just the waveshaping style stuff.

thanks ! your latest build worked perfect in latest Reaper.

It loads up fine in Cubase Studio 4 but as soon as I change to another preset it mutes the sound. It works fine in Reaper and FLStudio.

That's on an AMD Dual-Core, WinXP32.

Glad to hear, this bug really required some luck as well to be fixed so fast :)
