MF Auralis Remixed - a new Soundpack for NI Kore 2

This is a brand new home-grown Kore Soundpack produced as a collaboration between myself and Jim Hurley (arachnaut on the NI forum). Jim designed the original MF Auralis ensemble which is a modified Metaphysical Function with a new sampleset and 128 snapshots made by Jim. What I have done is make a Kore template for a modded MF Auralis ensemble that works better in Kore (the original had problems with automation) and converted the whole lot to Kore format but then I took it further by taking my favourite 50 snaps (adding a few of my own) and making an additional 7 variations each (for a total of 400 variations) that can be morphed between in realtime to add a performance element to what was already a very dynamic synth.
Link temp removed - need a better host
Some of the sounds are also midi controllable so can be used as instruments rather than just sound generators.
Please make sure you follow the instructions for installation in the Zip. At the moment Kore is very flaky with Reaktor ensembles that can't find their path (a bug reported in the bug reports thread) but as long as your Reaktor ensemble user folder is in My Documents I think you would be OK - if not you can always create a dummy folder with the same path.
So the Zip contains 3 things - the Reaktor ensemble, a folder with the import of the original MF Auralis snapshots (128 ksd's), and a folder with 50 of my favourite Koresounds with 8 variations each.
This is a big file - nearly 400 MB - as it contains the sample map with it.
Kore is not dead!

Crosslink to thread at NI forums where Jim explains a bit more of the background:

Sorry I just got an email from Dropbox saying they have suspended my account for 3 days due to too much traffic - I didn't know there were limits (they don't advertise them too well). I should be able to upload this to my ftp but have not had much luck yet so am waiting support so this is temporarily down until I can upload it somewhere.

OK I have fixed my hosting problems by expanding my ftp bandwidth so should be no problems to download this now. I have posted the new link on my website:

Just an additional note - this does need the Reaktor 5.6 update to be installed and you will need to manually copy the Reaktor VST dll's into Kore's internal engines folder (Program Files (x86)/Common Files/Native Instruments/Kore/Plugins) as the latest Kore update integrating the latest Reaktor updates is not out yet.

Any suggestion where the best place would be to put the Reaktor ensemble for these? Despite assurances Windows is supposed to disregard username in My Documents paths it doesn't always and some users are having problems

I was thinking just making a standard C:/Audio/ReaktorUser path or something

OK I have fixed these now - found a way to get round the Kore/Reaktor bug and make them work with the user paths intact. If you have downloaded the full package already you just need the updated Koresounds as the ensemble isn't changed:

delete the old ones and put these in your Kore user sounds folder and run a databse update (this is essential).

Wow! Awesome Stephen! (name?) Very nice music too!
You know, I was just getting into Kore 2 and NI went and gave it the ax. I hate it when that happens. :^/
I have a limited understanding of the fundamentals of synth parameters - Kore is way cool for twiddling without to much fuss?
It is really a bummer that they dropped it isn't it?
Anyway. Thank you so much!

Thanks. Yeah bad idea really - I think in a few years time people will be wondering why there are no hosts dedicated to sound design, organisation and performance, with integrated hardware all in one powerful package and we can say well there was one but the company that developed it didn't have the vision to make it work - what a waste! Making stuff like this shows life goes on but on one level it's very sad.

No - the Player is only able to load content designed and licensed for it.
If Kore was still in development it may have been possible to approach NI over making an official soundpack (although it would have to be a lot more polished than this is) - in fact I had done that before with another potential collaborative project but it appears even then there were some signs Kore was not a going prospect - one of the things that burns about this situation.

Just posting to say I have now reinstated the link to this bank on my website (in sig). I took it down because:
a) My ISP charged me nearly £300 in additional bandwidth fees and when I looked at what was going on it was so many people downloading this 350MB file, and I couldn't afford to keep it up at the time - that problem is now resolved thankfully.
b) I was starting to work on a new version with Jim's version 3 of this ensemble but work was stalled due to a serious bug in Reaktor that has just been fixed with v5.7.
Starting to work on the new version again now - here is a taste (and test) - a revised Kore template made for MF Auralis v3 and 1 Koresound with 8 morphing variations:
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/5646041/Kore%2 ... 0throb.ksd
As with these things you have to be quote specific about where you put the ensemble for Kore to locate it. It assumes the ensemble is located in: user/ensembles/MFAuralis3 (on Mac) and for Windows users I added a text file with instructions. Obviously you also need to be using using version R5.7 of course and MF Auralis v 3 is available from the user library via this thread:
