Two questions:
- I just upgraded to Studio OneV2 Pro, but haven't installed it yet... Once I have M-Essentials properly installed/activated, will there be a link to upgrade to Editor, or do I have to visit Celemony's site?
- At the Melodyne website, there's mention of an iLok... Necessary for the upgrade, or not?
Thanks.

as above, no ilok is necessary, and when you register/activate the plugin, i think you have to register at celimony anyway. AFAIK, you'll have to upgrade at their site.flugel45 wrote:Hi All,

I took the plunge and went all the way and upgraded to Pro V2. Audiomidi were having a deal where you got $15 off your next purchase so I used that and only paid $85 for the upgrade. I had a play on it this weekend and so far so good. After having used cubase for ages I'm really impressed. It's been really easy to learn to use it. I only had to read the manual once or twice, but other than that most features are straightforward and watching a few tutorial video's also helped. My only wish is that they had a step sequencer for beats and melodies. Hopefully that will come...but I can live without it.
I also rewired to ableton and it was rock solid all day yesterday. No drops outs and it didn't crash once.

Quick question that I can't seem to find online:
-What are the maximum number of parameters you can assign with control link? They usually show up to 16 but it's hard to tell if there are more banks or a scrolling window or something.
thanks

this depends on the device you have. as many different parameters as that sends. no scrolling or banks (only for mixer mappings). it would be possible to create banks, but it is tedious.Echoes in the Attic wrote:What are the maximum number of parameters you can assign with control link? Not sure I understand. Pretty much any midi controller with a decent amount of knobs can send the full range of 128 different midi cc's, usually over 16 midi channels. So you're saying Control link can assign 2048 parameters?efluon wrote:this depends on the device you have. as many different parameters as that sends. no scrolling or banks (only for mixer mappings). it would be possible to create banks, but it is tedious.Echoes in the Attic wrote:What are the maximum number of parameters you can assign with control link? But then you say the window doesn't scroll and there are no banks/tabs? Then how would you access more than the 16 which appear to fit in the window?
Just to clarify, in case we're misunderstanding each other, I'm trying to figure out how many parameters can be assigned to a single plug-in.
thanks

not sure about the 2048.. you'd need to factor in notes, and remove the reserved stuff i guess..Echoes in the Attic wrote: Not sure I understand. but in theory you could assign that many controllers.
i was not talking about a window (which one? the visualisation of the device, where the mapped parameter names are shown, the one that has midi-learn for unknown devices?) but about the device description for the hardware. But then you say the window doesn't scroll and there are no banks/tabs? Then how would you access more than the 16 which appear to fit in the window?
it is difficult (possible, but needs lot of xml) to control more than one control message (that then gets linked) with one knob and selecting which one. NI Maschine (and to a lesser extent the akai mpd's) have a feature in the hardware that does define controller banks, where each knob can send different messages, depending on the selected bank. that is a lot nicer to use.
as many as your hardware controller provides. if you want to make an onscreen remote, you can put in as many as you like, and if i guessed the window right, that one has scrolling. also you could in theory create a skin with tabs for that.Just to clarify, in case we're misunderstanding each other, I'm trying to figure out how many parameters can be assigned to a single plug-in.

Thanks,
And yes I was referring to the control link window, where you can see the knobs showing up that are getting assigned.
I see that you can either use the mapping for a single instance of a plug-in, or you can save a focus map, which is used for that plug-in in all projects. Can you save different templates though? I'm thinking of things like Reaktor or Kontakt which have different automation assignments for different instruments in the same plug-in. Is it possible to save for example a preset of an instrument that includes a unique control mapping?

Everytime I launch novation or glassviper I have to fill out again
the registration details. This should be solved in another update.

Nope. One global mapping per remote per song (you would use that). And one focus mapping per plugin per remote that stays the same always. Many modular plugins offer performance parameters for external mapping that are internally mapped as well. E.g. U-He Zebra 2 has 4 xy-pads as the internal structure can be so different. Synthmaster is similar. don't know about reaktor or kontakt, but it'd be strange if they don't have something like that.Echoes in the Attic wrote: I see that you can either use the mapping for a single instance of a plug-in, or you can save a focus map, which is used for that plug-in in all projects. Yes, upgrading is straightforward and does not need a new install. The serial you get from Celemony unlocks the Editor functionalities. Also, you can then use the Meldoyne plugin in another Sequencer on the same DAW without an I-LOK. But once you've used it the ARA-way, you don't want to use it differently anymore...kelldammit wrote:as above, no ilok is necessary, and when you register/activate the plugin, i think you have to register at celimony anyway. Is there a way to link the renaming of channels? When I rename a track in the list, the mixer channel to take that name too. Also, how can I duplicate a track with the VSTi too. From what I've seen it only duplicate the track but it's using the same instance of the VSTi. I want to make a copy of the synth too so I can't mess the settings for the last track.
