I thought I was in the ftp. Why does my computer always go to the main site then switch over to ftp view?
What is that CS-40 synth? I don't remember that. |

What is that CS-40 synth? I don't remember that. I believe it was included with some early version of Cubase. Anyway, the .dll provided on ftp doesn't open in any host here (I don't have Cubase so can't check if it works there) Edit: that was Cubase 5.1 (scroll to the bottom of the page) Quote: The three new VST Instruments are a big improvement over those previously supplied with Cubase. The flagship is JX16, a 16-voice virtual analogue synth licensed from MDA, closely followed by Steinberg's own CS40, a six-voice dual-oscillator virtual analogue synth.
Edit2 And rather ugly it was ![]() |

Most of the plug ins you can find hosted on the ftp try to find an equivalent dongle license in order to work and many of them work only in that specific host even if they can find a license (for example Cubase only)... |

when you run the installer, it also places 5 model-e preset folders somewhere (i can't recall where now, as i've already moved them to my own presets folder...) my question is, how do you load them? they're all in vst3 (vstpreset) format, yet the plugin isn't vst3. if it helps any, i use flstudio. ----

Well they can't be loaded directly it seems but I figured out that each of those vst3 presets contains an fxb. By deleting the 64 first bytes of the file with an hex editor so that the file starts with CcnK and save as fxb you get a bank which can be loaded normally in any non-vst3 host. Optionally the trailing xml at the end of those vst3 presets can also be deleted but leaving it doesn't affect their viability as fxb. In case it feels too complicated I uploaded the thus fixed banks: http://www.mediafire.com/?217sxwvkc3wgoa7 (Someone please PM me in case there is any legal issue and I'll remove them) |

Blimey! There's a blast from the past. I remember Model-E didn't sound all that great 10 years ago. For me the main appeal was that it was basically an emulation of a Mini Moog. God knows how it must sound these days compared to what we have now. Can I be bothered downloading to find out? No! |

A little processing goes a long way.... any old plug can be spruced up with the right fx.. |

Easy programming, 16 part multitimbral and doesn't put a dent on the cpu no matter how hard you run it. I can definately see myself using it in the right context. There's a few nice banks to have here at kvraudio as well.
Thanks to Steinberg and the guys that put in their free time. definitely +1! |

A1, Virtual Guitarist/Bassisst, Voice Machine... Hey, I can dream! Then again, from the looks, VB-1 was not really enhanced, just rerendered with a new GUI and x64 support. Then again, it was part of Cubase since VST3.7 days. Yes, that is old. I'm curious when they will update LM-4. I raise my voice for A1 too. I was very disappointed when I saw that I couldn't run it anymore in Lion. But that's a Waldorf work, AFAIK And Xphrase, which was done by ReFX, I think. Or D'Cota, which was a cutdown version of Tera, by Virsyn (which also did the synths currently in Cubase). When I think of it, it seems like Steinberg never did any synthesizer by themselves. ---- Fernando (FMR) |

I was going to mention A1 as it was a litl bad#ss but everyone gets wadded undies when you throw a little fire toward Cu-boss and Steinberg. A1 would eat three model e's and a vb1 for brunch.......Personally like I thought I alluded to was I wish Steiny would dole out all the discontinued software......the thought of some of those instruments dying kills a little piece of me inside. I'm sure this whole mess is not doing any good to the SX years dongle that hasn't been touched in quite a while either..... |
