Hello Arno,

I've discovered few weeks ago your site thanks to audiofanzine. Your work is just impressive and the sound of the major part of the proposed instruments are quite pleasant .... Hoping that you will be able to propose in the future a lot of other instruments (could be interesting to propose this information in your site) ....
I've just a question: I don't know if it is feasible or if it has an interest compared to already supported format, but have you planned to support the SampleTank format ?

Thanks

Hi, and thanks for the kind words!

Sampletank does not meet the minimum requirements for our libraries. The main needed feature is the release samples and the possibility of making that release sample decrease with the lenght of the corresponding sustain. Sadly sampletank does not offer it.

But we have the ASPlayer that is free and works on windows and mac as VST and AU so you don't need sampletank at all :)

Thanks for your answer.

I've seen too that some of the instruments include sfz. Dimension Pro is really inexpensive (not like kontakt or Mach5) and powerfull. Is it planned to unify all libraries vs formats ? (in fact ASPlayer is not bad, but this is not practical in a lot of fields for composition).

What I think is that you propose really good instrument, but utilisation and supported format doesn't seem completly consolidated and unified.
Unhappilly, kontakt and MachFive are quite expensive ...
What will be your strategy in the futur in this field ?

Thanks

Well, it's not "unified" because of the limitations of some formats. Most SFZ players do not allow disk streaming, most formats also miss important features that we use all the time. Most of the time SFZ versions are here because somebody asked for it and we tried to do our best to have something not too far from the Kontakt or MachFive version, but to be honest, it's never fully satisfying, our libraries rely on scripting, and kontakt and MachFive are the only engines that allow it. The ASPlayer has been tweaked to reflect some of the features that we needed, but it's still not the perfect choice.

What we plan in the future, and actually a very close one, is to have all of our libraries in one format that supports scripting, delivered with the player (and not the ASPlayer) so that you don't need anything else and can access all of the advanced features without buying any sampler.

Thanks Arno for your answer. It explains why guys like me can see several different format, not fully understanding the format strategy. I guess your customers appreciated your flexible support without any doubt.

Your last paragraph announces really good news, my feeling is that it is a good strengthening for the future. Knowing the high quality of the solution proposed in your site, I will be happy to try/use it when available!

Thanks a lot

Arno and Lance,

I currently own and absolutely love Academic Grand. I am using Kontakt 4 and it works beautifully. I also downloaded the newest update of AS Player. A very nice improvement over the bare bones original version, for those who don't have or wish to spend the money on Kontakt. It will be nice to see a uniform format to your offerings along with a quality player that will open up all that your wonderful instruments have to offer.

Thanks ;)
What you suggest might be happening a lot sooner than what you think ;) Just wait a few days and you'll see...
