Don't get any splash screen here..
But despite what looks like an intimidating GUI at first glance, I actually like it a lot in use. Everything is right there and logical once you know what each control does. Can even type in the value in the box which can be handy, f.i. for pitch bend stuff etc. (btw, pitch bend is: pitch wheel - 0x pitch in the modulation matrix, must be set for all the oscs) Luckily there is a description of each control in the top right corner, and also the Helix tutorials on Youtube are quite useful even if for the commercial version. There are some presets available too: http://rekkerd.org/patches/plug-in/helix/ Last edited by V'ger on Sun Feb 12, 2012 4:22 pm; edited 1 time in total |

With this instrument you have freespace to work things out and so i did , for host i used LMMS , and i use one delay in LMMS from the program itself .And i loaded the vst 13 times into the host and it gives me no problem with my pentium 4 computer.

Welcome, nice song and all in order.
You are not only the first to enter in this competition, but also first in One-Synth-Challenge to use DAW effects in a song now that it's allowed. And 13 instances plus effects without problems on a P4 is a good example of how efficient this VSTi is. |

This is my first One Synth Challenge. I can't believe in all these years I never noticed the contest! So far I've got 8 instances of Helix on Cubase 6,and I'm very impressed! Although I like my synths to be a little more intuitive on programming, when I actually started mixing tracks together, I found it to have a beautiful smoothness. Looking forward to having fun with this! |

My first Challenge too, just started it earlier (so, dont complain yet) Having a blast with Helix, which is funny because I found that same site a few months back, downloaded the beta, never used it, and ended up deleting it while cleaning out the vst folder I think Ive got 8 instances so far, but theres still a few more layers and at least 2 more percussions to add. Also Ive got a Kirnu one of the Helixes (Helices?), but since thats not a synth I didn't think it would count. |

Do you have to have 20 posts to enter this contest,or is that only if you want to vote? |

So my nick name is SKYZONE song name is H E L I X C H O P P E R . And let trance the house................ ^ Wow you're quick!! Helix takes little cpu time, so I can work quite fine with it, by now I'm opening 5 or 6 instances and all goes perfect. So I'll try to contest again, it's funny I had the Helix beta time ago and I barely used it, just a quick peek... Now when I checked my plugins, it seems I deleted it for some reason I can't remember. It works fine and sounds good. Now I only need some inspiration! And I've been listening all the past OSC tunes in a row to vote for them. It's been hard!! I'll put votes soon (just want to re-check again to be sure) |

I think a really relevant prize would be a full version of Helix. ---- 17 year-old "musician." https://soundcloud.com/nine-of-kings Free albums are cool. http://nineofkings.bandcamp.com |

Got a good one going I think, my daughter heard it and said it sounded like a kitty cat masquerade ball, so I think I'll draw the title from that, maybe "Kitty Faces with Little Masks". Everything is sounding good so far, with the exception of the melody. (you'd think I'd eventually learn and stop building tunes from the rhythm up!) One fun thing, I managed to partially re-create my wheezy organ sound from the Zyn challenge on Helix, how fun is that! |
