I'd certainly be interested in one of these.

Although it looks a bit like the guitar equivalent of having every plugin ever made. Maybe too many options?

I saw the whole deal on youtube....
Yeah okay individual pole on off.
I love eb necks I think they could have done better by going the variax route.
Actually I think it's long past due that Line 6 start acknowledging other guitars, like original bc rich, ibby's charvels and others.
As for 'Tyler Variax" honestly all they did was jack the price for some nice pickups and put in into a guitar with a reasonable body. Line6 should sell reasonably priced electronics so that other manufacturers and luthiers can get into the act.

I dont want a guitar smarter than me

Well, for the first time in five years, it's been a new guitar day. Bought myself a nice shiny new Fender 1960's Telecaster in red, still at the shop being set up but should take delivery next weekend. So, the old adage that every strat player eventually ends up with a Tele seems true!
...seriously, though, it's a lovely axe; tech wise, it's a little like playing a tractor instead of a sports car, but there's something about the natural sustain and the chunky action that really appeals. IMHO, this is Fenders best guitar in terms of bang for buck, equally suited for rhythm duties, a little jazzy chording, and that classic Tele twangy bite. Plus, it's not an imitator; aside from the Mexican heritage, this is a real Tele and it says so on the headstock. Sold!

if it has the old stock bridge you might want to swap it out with a bridge that allows you to adjust the intonation for each string. Congrats though, nothing like getting a new ax to give you inspiration...have fundanbroad wrote:Well, for the first time in five years, it's been a new guitar day. might well upgrade at some point, but that's the beauty of a base model, you get the headstock kudos but with room to make it your own.

What drives me nuts about the Les Paul-shaped Tyler Variax is how much it weighs. The wood doesn't impact the sound, anyway, so it's a pointless shoulder killer.tapper mike wrote:As for 'Tyler Variax" honestly all they did was jack the price for some nice pickups and put in into a guitar with a reasonable body. PRS SE's constitute 90% of my guitar playing these days and I'm playing my $250 SE Singlecut with Soapbars more than my pre-Factory EG with Lindy Fralin's.fastlane wrote:I sold my PRS 20 anniversary custom 22 10 top....... and cried a little every day since. The best tele I've ever played is my Warmoth build with Lollar pickups and a baseball bat for a neck. I tried a pre-CBS tele recently that sounded absolutely dreamy but played worse than a Squire.danbroad wrote:it's not an imitator; aside from the Mexican heritage, this is a real Tele and it says so on the headstock. Mentioning that you modded this and not showing PICS is pointless!Uncle E wrote:PRS SE's constitute 90% of my guitar playing these days and I'm playing my $250 SE Singlecut with Soapbars more than my pre-Factory EG with Lindy Fralin's.fastlane wrote:I sold my PRS 20 anniversary custom 22 10 top....... and cried a little every day since. I've had a few oddball tele's I had the Ray Benson samick tele. I tried to love it but I hated it. I still have my LR Baggs Godin (predecessor to the acoustcater) It sounds nothing like an acoustic guitar or a tele but I love it all the more.
I almost got this bottom of the barrel samick tele which I swear sounded amazing. It was hands down the best tele I'd every played but I promised myself I was only going to buy an amp that day so I put it down and walked away.
The tele's that impress me most now are Schecter Pete Townsend ones.
