Hi guys

I'm demo-ing Nerve and really liking it so far (despite the very annoying almost constant nag windows!).

I'm using REAPER and what I can't work out is how to sequence the patterns. I imagine the usage is the same as with any other DAW though FWIW.

Nerve plays the currently selected pattern when I hit play in REAPER, but how do I choose to play only a certain pattern? I can't seem to trigger these via MIDI. Obviously you sometimes don't want any patterns to play at all; Nerve seems to always be playing no matter what! I'd like to be able to trigger the patterns via MIDI like you can in GURU.

Any help with this would be really appreciated.

There is a certain octave range dedicated to triggering patterns. Maybe C2 and up or C3 on the keyboard.
If you want Nerve to be silent, just don't put anything in the default pattern. I think the default pattern is the note C2 or C3, but I'm not sure since I'm not at my DAW.

Certain keys (I think C3 to B3) control the pattern banks (A, B, C, ...) and others (I think C4 to B4) control the pattern numbers.
If you don't want any patterns, deactivate the sequencer or make an empty pattern.

Thanks Karten. Where on the UI do you deactivate the sequencer?

Btw I'd be interested in your licence. Someone's written "It's a high price for vst that becomes NFR" - what does that mean? Is there a disadvantage buying your licence as opposer to buying directly from Xfer?

for your Song arrangement, a lot of users use alt-dragging of the pattern buttons (A-L) to export MIDI files the host arrange window. This makes it easy to add litle fills, etc. for spot moments in the song.

You can also drag out the audio as rendered .WAV loops in 1.01, which is my personal brute-force approach for exporting percussion parts, 'loop material', and the like.

There's also a feature in v1.01 for (re)triggering patterns if you're looking to live-sequence and have patterns not locked to the bar/beat (pattern restarts when you press a pattern key) by sending MIDI to Channel 4.

The only difference would be that, since you'd have a second-hand licence, you couldn't resell it if you didn't like it anymore.
If you buy it directly from Xfer, you licence will be "new" and you'll be able to resell it if you ever wanted to.
Obviously, an NFR (not for resale) licence should be cheaper than the original, and that's why you get $60 off retail price.
Nerve is well worth the $199 retail, though.
The guy who wrote that comment only complained because he didn't have the money to buy Nerve from me.

Just wondering, does it really become NFR? I had contacted steve a few months back since I had contemplated selling nerve and he just said I had to pay the 10$ fee and then he blacklists my serial, nothing about it becoming NFR

Where on the UI do you deactivate the sequencer?

in 1.01 its "menu->options->sequencer disabled" which hides the pattern area and pattern controls (shrinks GUI considerably).

Ah, this doesn't seem to be on the demo. That could be the source of my frustration then!

Another quick question while I've got you guys here

If I buy Nerve I'm also thinking of getting the Akai MPK49 controller - do you know if the two will integrate together well (especially with the pads) and if this relatively easy to set up? It'll be hosted by REAPER.

It should work well - you can change the note mapping either on the Akai (suggested method) or in Nerve (config file). Since you don't have one, you might consider the Korg PadKontrol, as there is a special Nerve build that communicates both ways (flashing pads, step editing, and more).

Makes sense, Id be skeptical too at that point
