that drum machine plugin Laughing

I just recorded a live set using 2 Venoms, one playing the TAL ElektroII bassline, the other just as its great self.

I discovered that changing the distortion setting lagged Ableton if I tried it while running everything. I had Venom running the whole time so I dont know if turning it off then changing the disto would produce the same lag. I bet you've already fixed that though Wink I ended up putting Ableton's Overdrive device on instead during recording, probably gonna put CamelCrusher on now that recording is over.

Eagerly awaiting MIDI sequencing!!!!! Its ok using the mouse for now because I know soon enough Ill be able to write those darn patterns with my trusty Korg. Then it will be business as usual, only using the mouse to write Beta 2 basslines and Tattoo patterns

(A quick blurb about how I use Venom !Beta 2! for live basslines; Ive got all audio turned off, slide length on EVERY step set to 7, and every active step has both gate and accent LEDs lit which is just my own preference, length and accent can be tailored to fit personal preferences. Ive saved basic bassline structure patterns. I make an 8 bar MIDI clip in Live, then load the bassline pattern[s], repeating as desired til Ive got all the bass structures I want. I activate 'alt prog' auto-step feature. Then all I have to do to write a bassline is click notes, which is very easy to do using just teh onboard track-pad. And of course route the MIDI from Venom to the bass.)

Its the "Beta 2" version, its got a big red bar under the GUI with some extra knobs.

Here's a reupload, I know theres a link to it somewhere in this thread but, Ive got the .zip right here, its less than 2mb and this connection is broadband. http://www.sendspace.com/file/x5ur95

Antto: let me know if you want me to take the link down, I didn't think you would mind but Ill be happy to remove it if you want.

mudpeople: no problem as long as the original contents of the .zip aren't modified ;]

i'm working on the envelopes (again)
more voodoo is going on inside the x0xb0x and it's a difficult job
i need a special sonogram tool to make my life easier, and since there ain't none such available - i'm trying to build my own
grr.. it's like trying to fix your car, but you have to craft all the tools yourself first

Venom v1.0 will have MIDI-IN (of course)
it will use one midi channel for the button mapping and another for other stuff
and i recently added midi-sync (yes) so now it's sync-able to anything which outputs MIDI CLOCK SYNC (i use this to sync Venom with the x0xb0x while i'm working on em)
this also enables it to be sync'ed to specialized MIDI-sync-generators with shuffle or whatever (like mine)

as for MIDI-OUT - maybe.. i'll see
i'm trying to make the most important things work first (overal sequencer operation and good 303 sound/behaviour)

I dont think anything got modified unless the gremlins got to it Razz I uploaded direct from my downloads folder and the only thing I ever do inside it is copy downloads. But Ive used Windows for too long to guarantee 100% gremlin-free anything hehe

Id say dont worry about MIDI OUT too much Wink You can save that for 1.1, like Kairatune's Program Change Wink So basically what I mean is, you know, GIVE US 1.0 (when you're satisfied its ready of course)!!!

I hope you realize that you've created the greatest 303 emulation ever. D16 and AudioRealism might be losing some business sometime soon Very Happy (Not hard with Phoscyon cuz despite its awesome filter the sequencer SUCKS and can't even be MIDI mapped, and ABL2 just, well it just can't cut through a mix to save its life)

As long as its not as hungry as DiVA, which is the only synth so far that has maxed out this i5 quad-2.6ghz. Even if it is, Ill still love it.

Worst case scenario, you can scrap MIDI out and give everyone who requests it a copy of ReBirth Razz

would be good to have MIDI out!
accents and slides? have a velocity out selector
for accent values? and maybe sned a portamento on
foolowed by off for a slide?(could be tricky+very
inaccurate but i always wondered if it would work
and never tried it)

also, how about midifile export? or is that already
one of the formats you're dealing with?

I know that i and others have i been nagging about the midi out but please dont take it as we're neglecting the 303 emulation! It sounds fantastic Smile
But the real fun starts when you can sequence 303 along with synths like Diva and Tyrell with next to a drum machine or two Smile Shame i can't/won't afford (the very very expensive) D16 drum machines.

If you have some free time, could you make a TR sequencer with maybe ten channels out? Smile There's no such vst midi sequencer for drums that i know of (apart from named D16, ABL's and the 909 in Orion). Slightly off-topic, sorry about that Embarassed

Keep up the good work, it's much appreciated!

Crackbaby: i've had this idea too, since the best thing to do with something like Venom is to sync it to a drum machine and jam all day long
Venom's sequencer can be modified and used as a base to make a drum sequencer
even if it doesn't drive actual sound modules - it can at least send MIDI
tho, i'd really love to try and do 606/808/909 synth modules
and it would be also great when both Venom and such drum-sequencer are sync'ed to a shuffle-capable midi clock generator Very Happy Wheeeeeee
