OK seems no one has voted ;(

yes, it's riff driven. obviously ;)

I'l like to hear some counterpoint melody, maybe a melody that runs over twice the distance that your main riff does, perhaps sung? or another non-stringed instrument.

I have to admit though, that after a minute or so I was wondering if the track was going somewhere. A bridge section maybe? Some variation to take it someplace before returning to the riff...

It has a nice groove. the percussion is a good touch. maybe some more variation though? A stabby percussion section would be cool .... especially if it was emphasized by the instruments (a syncopated chord progression)?

Thanks for listening and the comments - all very agreeable to me.

This is a result from about a 2 hour effort. I'm participating in the February Album Writing Month challenge, which is to write 14 songs in the month of February. So, many songs are sketchy frameworks upon which to hang more complete ideas later on. I just wanted to check to see if this was what others call a riff.

Definitely a riff. I agree with the previous poster who was expecting a melodic supplement. I reckon it needs a piano (acoustic or suitcase) and a flute. That oughta do it.

I think you've got a very cool rhythm track going here, but it does feel like a backing section somehow. I agree that a melody or some other element would really do the trick. A good vocalist could be all that's needed even...

The guitar riffs and simple percussion work great though, with some clean up you've got a nice base here.
