Free Jazz Bells Sound

I would like to recreate a sound that I've heard in several songs. I believe it's influenced by certain free jazz artists, but I can't find a song to sample it from, and I don't know how to record it.

And about 1:55 into this one:


Basically it just sounds like a bunch of bells being hit like crazy, but it sounds very unique to me. I don't know what kind of bells/other percussion are being used, what gives it its distinct sonic quality, or how i might be able to recreate the sound. Does anyone know of any songs/places online that I could sample the sound from, or have any ideas on how I could record it? Thanks for your help
