Good arpaggiator that works with any VSTi?

Reaper has its own bridge, yes.

Catanya's very good and easy to use in Reaper which attracted me to it. I find Arp too complicated but I'm sure it's really good once you get to grips with it.braj wrote:Catanya is really working for me, even with the demo limitations it is very handy and I think I'll stick with that for now. The ability to easily render the arps to midi overcomes the demo restrictions also, so when I am sure I really am getting some value out of it I'll purchase. I am not making dance music so some of the other arps are maybe too specific or their UI is not conducive to the way I work, at least so far as I can figure out how to use these plugsCatanya also has the distinction for being very close to Caitanya, who is an incarnation of God according to my faith
so maybe that's a sign!
I wish Catanya had some of Arps features or Arp could be switched to a more simple interface similar to Catanya. I make dance music where as you don't so Catanya seems be quite versatile at fitting different needs.

I really like Catanya's interface, three octaves and where the chords hit in each is very straightforward to me and creating your own grooves is so simple. Once you have the groove in line then Reaper is great for snapping everything to a scale and just rearrange the bass notes to something appropriate is a good workflow for me. Often I just have issues with playing the rhythms I want properly and this lets me work those out without having it all be too mechanical sounding or tedious to deal with. And all those presets are a great starting place to get what you want down.
Reaper isn't remembering the presets I save but that is ok, even just remembering the name of my favorites will be good enough since the browser is so well-organized. My one concern is the 32/64 bit issue, but I likely won't upgrade my computer for a long time so that likely is not really a big deal.

when I owned it, it worked just fine in W7 x64 and in XPx64 in FLS.munchkin wrote:I'm using Catanya in Reaper 4 x64 on Win 7 x64 and everything seems to work fine.cryophonik wrote:I emailed 7Aliens a few months ago (November IIRC) regarding 64-bit and received a prompt reply stating that they are working on 64-bit. That said, I agree that they should get on the ball and finish it because Catanya doesn't bridge, so it's useless for anybody on 64-bit.manducator wrote:About catanya and harmonizer; they are both 32-bit, no 64-bit and I keep reading posts about the creator not responding to mails. Hmmm...just tried Catanya again in 64-bit Sonar and S1v2 with Jbridge (& Bitbridge for Sonar), but it's not working.

Sounds like may be a Sonar thing? Hmmm, try Catanya in the demo version of FLS?cryophonik wrote:Hmmm...just tried Catanya again in 64-bit Sonar and S1v2 with Jbridge (& Bitbridge for Sonar), but it's not working.
Oh! And there is Wok's CLOCKWOrK. About $47 USD.

I actually have FLS - bought it on a whim many years ago for a collab that never panned out, so I never used it and haven't even installed it since my last computer rebuild. Maybe I'll download the latest update this weekend and give it a go. That said, I know I've seen several other posts on other forums in the past from people who weren't able to get Catanya working in 64-bit hosts, so I pretty much gave up hope, but now....abstractcats wrote:Sounds like may be a Sonar thing? You could try installing Reaper - it's a very small download. And then try Catanya in that. If it works then it's probably a problem with Sonar rather than your Windows system. Maybe Cakewalk could advise?
I used to use Sonar quite a few years ago and seem to remember it required a particular way of routing midi so perhaps Catanya might work if this is set up correctly.
CLOCKWOrK looks good but I'm not sure I'd pay 39 euro for it when Catanya costs only a bit more. Arp is even better value but more complex to use. Catanya has a lot of presets which I value. Best thing is to demo them all.

Why not use the plugin manager in Sonar to have it open Catanya with JBridge instead of bitbridge? It would work a lot better I am guessing. I use JBridge for my 32 bit plugs and have no problems with it at all.cryophonik wrote:Hmmm...just tried Catanya again in 64-bit Sonar and S1v2 with Jbridge (& Bitbridge for Sonar), but it's not working.

Thanks for posting this. I hadn't been over to the Reaper forums in a while so this was unknown to me. I ran it in OSX without issue and I think it's a gem of an arp. I only wish the ReaJS vst was OSX capable so that I could use it in Live. Oh, well...V'ger wrote:New free arp out: Arp!0

That's what I've been doing. It's not working with either bridge.inaheartbeat wrote: Why not use the plugin manager in Sonar to have it open Catanya with JBridge instead of bitbridge?
edit: update - got it working by updating my jbridge to 1.4!

Nice to hear. I would have been really surprised if it didn't work. I may look at this plug now that I know it can work in that environment.cryophonik wrote:That's what I've been doing. So before i pull the trigger on Catanya, I have a couple questions:
How many installs is the license good for?
Are there any similar plugins with easy to edit patterns that will let you write to the piano roll?
I am a little taken aback by the price but if I actually use it it will be worth it to me. But I am wanting at least two installs available. I emailed the dev but haven't heard back yet. The app also was last updated in Jan 2010 so that makes me wonder if it will be updated and supported beyond what is currently there.
