Motif Rack midi timing issue

Hi!
I'd like to get a sound module for my M-Audio Axiom61 and the Motif Rack seems quite nice. Beside it I'd like to use a laptop with Live as a sampler, controlled by a small keyboard like the Akai MPK Mini or Korg Nanokey.
Also in the future I'd expand this setup with another module(s), connected to the midi keyboard through a midi splitter box.
However I read about a midi timing issue of the Motif Rack. What does it mean? When can it come up?
If I use the module as an instrument or a mic, so only pluggging it to a mixer, mixer to the audio interface, NO midi connections, would it cause any problems?

I ordered a Motif Rack XS which just arrived today. I am going to head over and pick it up in just a few minutes. It looks like the timing issue was with the original Motif Rack. Then resolved with the ES model. Hopefully the XS is fine.
There are several versions of the Motif Rack over the years. Are you looking at getting the original, or something more recent?

Only the original one, or something else in the ~$500 price range. Its 128 voice polyphony and usb connection seems very nice, I haven't really find anything similar in this price range. Or it is cheaper than eg. the Triton Rack or the XV-5080 because this midi timing issue is so severe?

You should be able to find a ES model for $500.00. Stay away from the original.picur85 wrote:Only the original one, or something else in the ~$500 price range. Sound mods don't sell fast here, but Strats do.

Thanks for the info and the link Riley, I forgot to mention that I live in Hungary so buying from overseas or generally form ebay is a bit risky. Here the ES Rack goes for around $700-800 (like a $500 module with shipping etc would be) but it's still the smaller problem, the bigger is it's quite hard to find one for sale, although it's true for most sound modules.
