can anyone point me in the direction of a collection of fader caps in png or photo/paintshop or any other graphic format? free or pay.

Just search for Knobman in this forum, and you'll find a topic that contains a lot of knobs and faders.

ok, i cant find any desk fader caps but its a big thread and it hurt my brain looking thru it so i could have easily missed! any help?

There's no simple help except but looking through a few pages at a time, then take a break of 30 minutes, and continue sifting through a few pages more.
